In theory I like the idea, who wouldn't, but they have 30 minutes on Thursday night to secure pole in the Hyperpole shoot-out. Surely one fast lap done and the second third and forth laps will be slower as the tyres will deteriorate. They will have to stay out throughout the full 30 minutes of the session as per rules not allowed back in. So do an out lap followed by a super-fast lap then 20 minutes driving round slowly to fill in the time.

Don't think qualifying tyres are allowed?, so should be good for several laps

Surprised they just did split LMP1&2s from the GTEs as the current all cars on track fro quali means faster cars often come up against traffic a few times on a lap.

Not sure how they will regulate against cars doing a top time and then cruising around and getting in the way - much better to allow a few in the pits.

Oh that will change our plans as well. Why on earth have free practice from 22:00 to 24:00 on Friday. Surely you'd do better having the Hyperbole session at 23:00 or 22:00 and the session ending after it?

I'd guess 9 (on Thursday, not Friday) suits TV, and gives them time afterwards to change things around if they have to red flag the hyperpole session

Because:
1. Teams can go for an out-and-out pole setup for the hyperpole session in about the optimal conditions, then have time to change back/get the drivers again used to the race setup.
2. You don't limit everyone's night practice/driver qualifying time for the top few to 'put on a show'.
3. Better timing for TV.

Exactly, 9pm you'd wander back and light the bbq. I was usually all over and done, but now that's going to be the most exciting part of the weekend confusedlaugh
