The man who has presided over the most incompetent era of the retail financial regulator, to the point that you are left assuming no one can be that negligent or lazy so has to be on the books of organised crime. The man who has screwed more pensioners than Wayne Rooney with his request for every white collar crook in the UK to rinse out as many pensions as possible, the release of minibonds, P2P lending and the ilk to get invisible bamboo farmers to empty out other savings pools.

The FCA under this leadership has simply released packs of wolves one after the other to rip down and gorge on the finances of UK retail investors.

And he is now the front runner to be the Governer? This is a man who would require 1 to 1 oversight when mopping the floor of a McDonalds, if only to stop him opening the tills and unlocking the front door and putting a big sign up to advertise the free money.

Announced, not just front-runner - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50861129

Odd: he speaks very highly of youhehe

(I've no idea who he is, frankly, but not really seen what the BoE has done of late other than spend months and months and months, etc, keeping interest rates flat.....I'm sure they do more.....)

Ha! When I read the news this morning, I thought pretty much the same thing. Remarkable.

I know little about any of the candidates but shuddered when I saw he was the next in charge. Would hope he's under constant scrutiny by the rest of the committee and Mr Javid

I was thinking that - perhaps he's safer out of the way while everyone else can get on with doing stuff.

Indeed.

“"the stand-out candidate in a competitive field"

Absolutely spot on. In the same manner that John Merrick would stand out in a Miss World contest.

That's unfair DA. Think of all the good work work he did at the FCA, including:

I expect that this thread will quietly disappear as soon as our new masters catch wind of it.

I've noticed several of my posts have suffered this fate - none of which was particularly 'actionable'.

The sooner one of 'us' takes over the forums the better (you know who you are!).

Anyhooo nice to see a bit of bite from a poster for a change.

No I've never heard of him either.

I take it you don't think he's the right man for the job then.

I had the pleasure of a Q&A session with him as deputy where he recognised the habit the regulator gold plating EU regs to the detriment of UK business and that this would stop under his watch.

I contined this pleasure with a future session with him clarifying that the addition to some new EU regs needed to be completed to be compatible with UK culture. But this wasn't gold plating or fiddling. Oh No.

Soon after he promoted to head of the FCA.

I know nothing of this but it will make a change from the whining pro-EU doom-merchant Mr Carney.

He may transpire to e the perfect man but in his previous role he has presided over a disaster forretail investors.

The more you read it the more sense it makes, and indeed an ingenious cost saving solution.
