....pit. ;)

The last few times I have got into my pride and joy, there has been a faint to medium smell of petrol in there. No drips on the floor and can't smell or see anything unusual in engine bay. Still getting the normal 20 mpg so am not sure where to look.

Not a huge problem but any ideas would be great.

Thanks chaps.

Yep - my M12 did that.

Only option is to upgrade to an M400 apparently

Am I not going to get a round of applause for the some what hilarious title of my thread..........or was it a bit to harsh for this Serious Noble forum?

Glad to hear that the smell is "normal". Thats fine then, I can live with getting that little bit higher when I get in!!

Yes very clever - I thought twice about looking.....

However I'm not certain that using mpg as a measure of whether or not you might have a fuel leak is quite as clever!

I think (Hope) your find that it's the breather pipe on the passenger side of the fuel tank (under the car). Mine smells from there when I have just filled it right to the brim with fuel.

Does your girlfriend not mind?

Seriously though. I have never noticed it over the last 3 months of ownership, but I am happy to live with it now I know I am not going to explode when I turn the key!!

Thanks chaps.

I can't resist telling a little story that might make you chuckle although it's off subject.

We live in the sticks and have chickens. A recent addition was a new cockrel who was still young when we got him. He's now grown up and he's b****y huge! When he does what come naturally with the hens he's crushing the poor creatures due to his weight and size. A local farmer agreed to speak to his mate who's a chicken expert about this and he did... in public... can you see it coming yet

His opening line was, (west country accent applied) "My mate's got a problem with his birds; His cock's too big!"

I thank you

Dom.

My car has never smelt of petrol - except on one occasion when I over filled the tank with petrol.

Ours does. In fact the garage smells of it when you walk in. It's not over-powering in any way, but it's there.

It's just faint enough to know it's not actually a problem. The faint smell goes away once you are driving - probably due to the fresh supply of air entering the cabin.

I had a similar problem and it was really bad in my garage and in the cockpit.

I took off the filler cap and adjusted the nut so when the cap is closed the o-ring has some pressure on it. The cap was not compressing the o-ring at all when closed.

This stopped the cockpit smell and the garage smell of gas/petrol.
