991 GT3 Experience and Advice
Discussion
There are plenty of threads around with arguments but I was wondering if any owners would help with various topics of running a 991.2 GT3 (or 991.1 for that matter). Maybe most use Rennlist for this kind of stuff but of course it has a US slant to it.
Having done a couple of thousand miles in mine (the Leicester GR one) here's a few things that spring to mind:
I hate black wheels (steel brakes) and was contemplating getting some all weather tyres on those and buying some platinum new wheels for the Cup tyres. Anyone done something similar?
There's a good thread on the centre lock tools required, anyone in the midlands area fancy sharing the cost of a set? Wouldn't be much effort to nip out to collect and use as required perhaps?
I love the noises from the car, and am hoping the grinding type noise at slow speeds from the rear is normal? I saw on another thread someone referring to the 'coffee grinder' noise..
The flappy paddles seem a long way in from the edge of the wheel, more than my Cayman was anyway, has anyone changed to theirs?
I'm thinking of getting a geo set up done, the wheel is just fractionally off centre and it's driving me mad. I could take it back to Leicester but I'm not sure they'll be willing to do it for free so might as well go to a specialist. Been recommended to go to String Theory at Caffeine and Machine.
When I bought a car last year from Top555 it came with a SCD 3 month membership, anyone on here go on the drives they organise? The only event i did was the Coventry Festival, but watching the Wales GT tour on YT it looked like an enjoyable day. I see they have an office now in Sheffield maybe I'll drive up for a look.
I've booked Spa with Gold Track for June 2nd next year, anyone else going? Probably should start a thread on events I suppose.
If anyone here was one of the previous owners of FN18 WUE please drop me a line. And congrats to the person who bought the yellow CGTS with PCCB from Leicester, I loved that car! (So much I bought it twice).

Noise is normal
Re Geo - go to Chris Franklin / Pete at Centre Gravity - fantastic business.
Enjoy

And +1 for the recommendation to go to Chris Franklin and Peter at Centre Gravity.
It's like a half-day educational course, too - you'll learn so much from chatting and listening as they fettle your car. They are both perfectionists as well as world-class experts in their field. Top value!
