Hi all,

I'm thinking about getting my Vantage coated, but after some advice. Is it worth doing? How long does it last? What are your experiences? What is the cost likely to be? Is there anyone in the Devon area or mobile service that would come recommended?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. biggrin

Had my Vantage and Elise done a couple of times by Gtechniq at their HQ. Hard to tell exactly how long it lasted, certainly 18 to 24 months with just hand wash every few weeks in between. Helped resist swirl marks from washing until I traded the car in...about years later.

Highly recommended for a longer term ownership with minimal maintenance required.

Hi Bennor, I used Sud's Law Ltd of Stratton, Nr Bude. They do all the cars for Porsche Exeter.
Not Devon admittedly but depending on where you are it could be local to you.
I've had my Range Rover done by them (Kevin) and my Zagato, and am pleased with the results.
The cars still get dirty but are so much easier to get clean again.
Best if you ring him for prices as i wouldn't want to commit him. Good luck.

Had mine done when I bought it, it's made washing it a bit easier, not had to polish it for 2 years, and even now only use a ceramic detailing spray to keep it shiny, at about £800 for the entire car, inside and out, wheels fronts and backs, it's not a bad investment, no substitute for PPF but a lot cheaper, the interior was probably a bit pointless but it was part of a package deal, the wheels are still spotless and the brake dust that does stick is very easy to remove.

Definitely worth doing. Make sure it’s a pro only coating though and get the car machine polished before hand. I would offer my services, but you are a bit far for me. Try FCDetailing who are down your way. Tell them I sent you.

Don't have it done at home. As Paddy says for the best results the car should be detailed with the ceramic coating applied in situ as soon as possible to avoid putting the coating on top of dirt and grit.

I've done it on all the cars i've owned in the past 5-6 years, and would definitely recommend it. It's great for protecting the paint, as any swirl marks and light scratches will be on the ceramic coating and not on the actual paint, and it's a lot easier to clean.

As said above, it's very important to do a proper paint correction before applying the ceramic, in order to avoid sealing any imperfections on the paint.
