What should I buy next?

Merry Christmas everyone!

Scratching my head a little as to what car I should get next so thought i'd bring my predicament here.

Current cars:

F30 330D M Sport Plus

Love this car, purchased it due to doing around 600 miles a week. I wanted something with some sort of performance and economy to go with it. This car replaced my trusty Mondeo 2.0 TDCi which had been my work horse for a few years.

I'm a huge fan of the 3.0ltr straight six (petrol or diesel) so I love this car. However, its time for a change and I want something petrol.

I also have a family wagon 2019 Volvo V90 Cross Country T5

What I want in my next car:

1. Petrol
2. Less than 70K miles (just my magic number I stick with)
4. Sub £18K (ish)
5. Ideally 0-62 sub 5 seconds (some of my car choices below won't be)

My previous cars:

MK4 Mondeo 2.0 zetec TDCi
Seat Leon Cupra 300
Audi A3 2.0TDI (170bhp guise)
E85 Z4 3.0si
Mk5 Golf Gti
Honda Civic Exec 1.6 - Handed down from grandparents
N Reg Seat Ibiza 1.4 CLS - BEAST of a car

I have sort of worked up a list of the cars I'd like but any other suggestions / recommendations would be appreciated. Or ones to avoid etc.

Mercedes c63 (6.2 V8) Saloon or Estate

E60 M5

E90 M3

F31 340i

Golf R - I know this is the same as the Cupra but it's something I've wanted

Mk2 Focus RS - Not sure i'd get an untainted one for this budget

E85 Z4M

Is there something else I should consider, and which one would you chose?

Appreciate my requirements are quite vague, but basically just want something that's a bit 'in-your-face', loud, quick and fun.

Yeah appreciate the mppsk is a must have with this car. Lovely engine, test drove it in the m140i but I prefer the F31.

Wish my budget at the time allowed me to get the 335d over the 330d but the 330d was local (around the corner) and had all the extra bits I wanted. Still over the moon with it. However, I want a petrol next as it will just be doing a handful of miles at a time.

Personally I would go for either an E46 M3 or any AMG with the 6.3 V8.

For sub 5 seconds in an Audi you'll need an S or RS model. My S5 with an APR 98 ron remap does 60 in the high 4s.

I haven't looked but it's crazy you can't buy a nice mk2 Focus RS for 18k.

If you've got big nuts and an even bigger bank balance - E60 M5.

Mustang GT - last gen V8 if you can live with LHD and slow depreciation.

Get a E60 M5 if you own a chunky cheque book, aren't easily irritable and have Europcar on speed dial.

You mention the Z4 as an option, which leads me to think you don't need 4 seats. If so, what about an SLK 55 AMG? It doesnt have the more complex issues bigger Mercedes seem to and it's pretty fast/nimble.

You have the family wagon and are looking at cars that don’t have a huge space in them so, for £18k go get a nearly new Fiesta ST. It does not have 6 cylinders it only has 3 and a meagre 1.5 litres. It is not ‘in your face’ and is nowhere near sub 5s 0-60 but believe me it is astonishing value for money; handles like no other front wheel car I have driven, especially with the performance pack LSD; makes a glorious noise like no 3 pot engine has a right to; will match pretty much anything else around the twisties; is just a delight to drive and is immense fun. A cracking car if ever there was one.

You can but 18k is the starting point for a Mk2 Focus RS really that's not a Cat registered car.

XKR?..£18k gets you a sub 70k miles example easily.

XFR or ISF if 4 doors are required.

£16k is more the starting point for a high miler not Cat registered car. There is a 70k miler for £16.5k (although another car or 2 with lower miles also for similar money) and then 50k miles just over £18k.

The next two are a bit leftfield but both are good drivers cars but don't have the badge but this does mean you're maintenance costs will be lower.

Bought an E92 M3 Manual with 50K miles in Jerez Black.
