Or success of course, for the people have been good PH folk over the year,

Our's started off well with my daughters friend dropping out yesterday so she wanted to cancel Christmas, my goose and chicken combo looked slightly optimistic for the remaining 4 people. I rapidly reduced it to chicken and duck and defrosted the duck. Then had second thoughts agsin and lost hope and so it will be chicken only. The duck did give up it's giblets for the gravy though biggrin Top bird, will cook it tomorrow. Mother in law about to turn up, have I got enough beer? No presents unwrapped at all, it is a like a Wednesday lunch with xmas crackers.

Dogs happy though,

his half shoulder of lamb for dinner ! Eating better than us.

Picture of our chicken ready to go into the oven...

I have to confess to liking oven cooked bacon ! bounce

Mother- in - law has just turned up , sat next to my whilst typing this and started talking about her catheter ... she's only been here 2 minutes.

Right better go and stir something.

My Christmas miracle. Made from scratch as we coincidentally had everything. I’ve never been successful with poached eggs as they did not stay together. This time.......perfect.

And the important money shot.

We did family Christmas at the weekend.

I made 2 chateaubriands using the whole filet of 2 cows. That’s 71 Ozs of steak. I “steered” (see what i did there) away from the traditional oven cooking by using Sous vide before moving to the stove and char’d it with butter. Enough to make a vegetarian go back to eating meat. I even bought the meat from a local butcher/abattoir. Can’t get fresher than that.

I also made 2 salmons filets as well. Effectively, a full fish but it had been prepared for me.

I’m impressed with myself!

Any chance of a disaster story? Success is all well and good but the disasters are funnier.

No pictures as it was too good, but gravadlax for lunch was a great success. About to start on the Christmas meal proper but as we're just having stuffed turkey legs (+ trimmings obvs...) it won't take long.

Mine doesn't drink much beer, maybe the occasional shandy in the summer.

My beef went amazingly well. Too stuffed to move now. No effort in presentation.

I was going to post this in the steak thread but it will fit nicely here. My mum can take the credit. Turkey has been relegated to just soup. Leftover will be in a baguette tomorrow evening.

Did my brother and myself steak pie, mash, veg and gravy. I'm no cook, so this was an achievement for me laugh

Don't really do turkey unless at the carvery (and wouldn't trust myself cooking it anyway), whereas we both love a steak pie.

So it was a no brainer.

Yep, my dad lives and has lived in Scotland for over 20 years so that might have some bearing on it?
