Merry xmas! Not a wow car just can do things.

Looking to buy an estate as a "runner come slave" The car will cover 40k annually and will be used to move stuff so the estate need!

Never had an estate so still a tick in the box. This will be used to convay me to work daily bar fridays when I use my toy during the non salt periods and will be used to cover Newbury to Whitehaven and back Friday and Sunday respectively.

Criteria large load area, economical and makes me want to wash it, not leave it. This is my first thoughts due to how I find the looks, load area and astetics.

What else should I put above this choice and why. Budget can go up but availability to use is a must.

Wow 40k a year....I’d say an e class diesel fits the bill and you should challenge yourself to run it until at least 300k!

Thanks gents, three year term so warranty can cover most of the worry free miles. The 1.5 is meant to be more refined than the 2.0 in the 308 according to reports. E class does appeal but age and costs put me off and no need to run to 300k much as I do like a challenge.

Drive both because I think you'll find it's the other way round as you have to work the 1.5 & also the GT's auto box adds to the refinement.
