One Xbox gold subscription, two gamertags question
Discussion
As you can see it's bloody confusing, so for £40 you may as well buy a Gold subscription for each user and console and remove a hell of a lot of messing around.
Then everyone can play what they want when they want. You will be spending far more on the games and content than you think, £40 is nothing in the scheme of things.

If Gamertag A is the one with the Live Gold sub and Gamertag X is the other then:
On Gamertag A’s home Xbox then any signed in gamertag will be able to make use of the Live Gold sub. Gamertag A does not need to be signed in.
On any other Xbox, if Gamertag A is signed in, then any other signed in profile will be able to use the Live Gold sub.
So if both Gamertag A and Gamertag X want to both play online at the same time, then Gamertag A needs to play on the Xbox that is NOT their home Xbox, and Gamertag X needs to be on the one that is Gamertag A’s home Xbox. This is because you can only be signed in to one Xbox concurrently.
My head hurts,On Gamertag A’s home Xbox then any signed in gamertag will be able to make use of the Live Gold sub. Gamertag A does not need to be signed in.

Didn’t think it would be that complicated. Thanks for the help.
It does work as me and a friend share xbox live membership & Game Pass.
My xbox is set up as my friends 'home' xbox and then just set to sign in as me automatically and vice-versa for my friends.
Especially helpful if we both want the same game, we just buy one digital copy and we both get the game.

Fortunately we've accidentally set it up like this On Gamertag A’s home Xbox then any signed in gamertag will be able to make use of the Live Gold sub. Gamertag A does not need to be signed in.
On any other Xbox, if Gamertag A is signed in, then any other signed in profile will be able to use the Live Gold sub.

Rainbow 6 siege was also only £7.49 including all the first year players, so I'm happy.
