New to the site so apologies if this is a old question as I believe it most definitely is.

Can someone help I have a f30 320d and I’ve had it in with the dealer several times it just feels like is always in ice and very unstable on the road

Mine handled brilliantly, SE on runflat staggered 18 inch wheels.

Perhaps wheels/tyres/alignment

Once you get over the poor steering, I think they handle very well. I think there must be something with yours as I’ve driven multiple F30’s and didn’t think any of them were unstable!

It’s a se with standard rims steering feels sloppy and I seem to be constantly steering at it it’s had the steering rack repair kit done which made no difference what so ever

It has adaptive comfort, sport, eco when changing modes I can feel the difference in the car but handling never any different I had a thought that maybe the rear suspension was at fault

I had one which was great until I had it repaired after someone drove into the side of it. it had a whole rear quarter replaced (couldn't tell it was done visually) but it never drove right afterwards, it used to skip over bumps and generally handle terribly.

Part ex'd it to the same dealer who repaired it and they sold it on as an AUC.

That is not adaptive suspension buddy that is just different modes that does not effect suspension. You have se suspension which in 30 years of driving middle of the road new company cars is the worse suspension I have ever had.Its a floating blangmange and on the outside lane of a motorway you feel like your on a sailing ship like you have no control.....After 6 weeks of buying new I bit the bullet and put AC Schnitzer shocks and springs on it and transformed the car.Last thing I needed cost wise but it was awful

Barry before you do that ,lets dig deeper. For example one thing that used to really get me was on braking the front nose would dive down and I had to tense my legs and thighs to hold on to the seat,is that a problem for you?

OP, what year is it? Is it post LCI update? My F30 335d ‘66 plate handles and rides pretty well. When pushed into ever-tightening corners, it goes where it is steered without drama. Yes, it steers heavier than a 330i, which I found too light. The ride is pretty good, but I went down from 19” staggered to 18” staggered, mainly because of the potholes that I encounter when away from my home area. I also went from 19” Pirelli Pzeros, to 18” Goodyear Efficient grip (also better rim protection).

I’ve bought a 2013 F31 320d as an AUC from my local dealer 2 years ago, and it felt like it did 120k miles even though it only did 20k when I bought it. Awfully floaty feeling. Put a Bilstein B12 kit on it, completely transformed the car. They gave me an LCI F31 as a courtesy car once, and that felt a lot tighter than my car did.

The F30 LCI update improved the suspension, from all I have read from contributors. I have no issues with mine.

Are the 4 tyres the same make, model and DOT code?

What tyre pressures are you using?

Has the car had a suspension alignment?

I think a decent set of rims and tyres and decent suspension is required failing that I’ll change it for a Audi lol
