Hello fellow Caymanites. I'm in a hole dug by myself and Halfords and replacement dipping headlamp bulbs (the top light in the Cayman's 3-light headlamp unit).

These bulbs stopped working in my 2006 Cayman S. Halfords' computer system said the bulb I needed to them was a D1S headlight bulb. It isn't as it has a completely different appearance and fitting mount to the non-working dipping bulbs in the Cayman's headlamp unit. The letters and digits on this bulb's flange are: H7 12V55W (E8) 3B4.

I've attached a picture of the Cayman headlight, the non-working bulb and its fitting, and also of the letters and digits on the bulb's flange. Does anyone know where I can buy two new replacement bulbs and what they are called in product name terms please?

That's a standard H7 available from Halfords - I bought one 2 days before Christmas. Buy a GE, not their own branded rubbish. It'll cost you £11.90

Thank you. H7 from Halfords it is. Cheers. The Retaining spring was in a safe place when the photo was taken.

If you are feeling flush try a pair of these LED's - https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/x-tremeultinon-... - they are a massive step up from the stock bulbs.

The box says, "Designed for rally and race tracks - not for use on public roads". Not really surprising in view of their extreme power and high dazzle.

Thank you everyone. Oily fingers will be avoided when fixing the bulbs and, regretfully, I'll not upgrade to the Leds.
Happy New Year!!
Chris.

All they'll do is blind oncoming.
Ridiculous price for led bulbs...especially for these which are made for pennies in China..

Hopefully not too late, quite a few owners have had success with Nighteye/Novsight LED conversions such as

So you have fitted these exact bulbs to a car with projector headlights and found them to dazzle oncoming traffic as the beam pattern is scattered all over the place...probably better keep your misinformed opinions to yourself until you have actually tested these bulbs in a car and found the beam pattern and cut off lines exactly the same as stock and enjoy the much improved light output v's halogen bulbs.

So you think it's ok to fit bulbs with no type approval, drive on public roads and be a causal factor in a fatal?

You're welcome. Now please explain why it's ridiculous. Oh, and please be careful with your spelling as it can make a great difference in meaning.

I'm afraid I must concede to your style in debating this matter. Where did you get your experience; Oxford or Cambridge? Rhetorical question by the way. sleep
