I have a 645ci 6spd manual with a 215k diff housing and a final drive ratio of 3.23.

I would like to install a shorter final drive, for example a 3.73 ratio, which is available in an E53 X5.

My question is will the final drive gearset from a 3.0d X5 (E53) fit in my 645ci (E63).

This link: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t...

....suggests that an X5 4.8 diff is a straight swap into a V8 6 Series. I can't find any literature to ascertain which diff sizes the diesel X5 uses, or if that is even relevant given I intend on swapping FDs only.

Anybody more clued up than me able to offer guidance?

(I could seek an X5 4.8 diff but a 3.91 FD is a bit too aggressive, the 6series in the link is an auto with a standard 3.46 FD)

That's interesting, cheers.

Where did you find that info please? It'd help me in my next quest - 7series Diffs! smile
