It really depends on the many choices of the builder-specific variables; engine and trans (ratio) mostly, clutch, total weight, wheel and tire selection, street-legal or not, etc. The variety is quite wide. Set your car up for the road course (as most do...since that's what the car is designed for), and it's not going to perform extremely well in the quarter. Obviously, the converse is true as well.
All that said, I know of one GTR that turns low elevens (road course setup). I am certain that 9.xx is very do-able, with a drag strip setup. As you can imagine, that setup wouldn't fare well on the road course.
The 0-150mph run that went for the world record did 10.53 for 402.336m (close as dam it to 1/4 mile) 140.68mph
Generally considered to be a road course Ultima on road legal tyres but seen Gmans reports for details (640bhp FW if I recall).

Done on a airstrip, not a drag strip too!

Even my girly spyder did it in 12 seconds at hayling island, terminal 125mph. Only a dusty airfield so got wheelspin until third gear. But we were the quickest road car on the day. Which was nice!
Remember that day, very nice but slippy, thought it was Thorney Island though

Time was set on road tyres ... on a runway not a drag strip and clocked 10.2 for over 1/4 mile using the same Datron systems as the world records

I appreciate your timed run was using an official ‘Datron system’ However I am not familiar with this type of timing equipment. What activates the start time?
Do you have a start light to which you have to react or does some form of motion sensor activate it.
There is no disputing the times your vehicle has posted are fantastic and all other vehicles would be timed using the same method. What I am trying to ascertain is whether we should expect similar times on a drag strip (or better due to tarmac grip) or whether we would have to add half a second or so for reaction time to the lights.

That has definitely enlightened me. I was under the misguided impression that at the strip the time was taken from the lights.
Not that I needed convincing about the speed of the Ultima but that makes it all the more impressive.
Now I just need a better engine to push the boundary even further!

Well I'm doing Santa Pod this Saturday no matter what anybody says. Just for a legal bit of fun of course and as a bit of practice before the GT Battle event. If I can get any decent times I will post them on this thread, if not then you will not here anymore.

Sounds interesting, what time do you need to get there for that?
If I had a crash helmet I might consider doing that at some point.

Yep it is, check out www.rwyb.co.uk/ for more info. Venue normally opens at 8.00am with track runs starting at 9am finishing at 5pm. £25 for the day. Don't forget your driving licence! Helmets required for bikes and open top cars and vehicles doing 100 mph or more at the finish line (thats us). Arm straps required in open top cars.
