Coke at Work ?

Having recently seen my boss get Cancer and then sell us off, we have recently been TUPE'd to a bigger competitor.

We were a tiny firm of 5, the new lot are 110 staff and 34million turnover....

The work atmosphere isnt great and they arent making a great deal of effort of helping us gel with their team.

Anyway, one of my colleagues from the old firm was in work today and sent me a shot of this memo....

Really unsure what to make of the letter and also what it means.....

Its more than likely drugs, but no mention of Police ?

I didn't read it as that at all. The whole 'talk to us in confidence', I assumed that was re grassing someone else in for it

So just lose your job for refusing to take the test? Seems legit. The testing would have been in your contract from day 1, it is in mine, if my company wanted to drug test me they could crack (lol) on and find some residual ibuprofen and cold flu remedy.

I think they need to refer to their original contract before telling anyone to fk off...

Yes, they pay me for my skills, if they want me to piss on them then that's gonna be extra.

It sounds like a typical bullst trick, pulled by y companies who are looking for a reason to get rid of a few people to me. They come up with a bullst story about finding something somewhere, or just come up with some other horse st excuse, then have an excuse to do an alcohol / substance, blood and or Urine check on the staff. Anyone with the requisite markers in their blood, gets the boot ( gross misconduct) and the staff members concerned, haven’t got a leg to stand on. I know someone who had this number pulled on them by the little weasels at the company he worked for. Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for him, there were no markers in his blood, so the trick didn’t work. He knows that they are a bunch of slimy little turds now though, and isn’t willing to help out, should the brown stuff hit the fan, and some ‘above and beyond’ efforts are required.

I think it's reasonable common to do this. We do drug random testing. Sometimes it can be a couple of years without a test sometimes 4/5 times a year.
