Alarm annoyance
Discussion
For the second time now tha alarm has gone off in the middle of the night (no signs of orcs trying to nick it) and its EFFIN LOUD! My neighbours will be out to lynch me if this keeps going on!
Has anyone experienced similar problems? Is it a common occurrence? Could it be orcs setting it off for 'a bit of a laff'?

...this can happen if your battery is losing it's charge. If your car is still on it's original battery, it may be due for replacement.

Or it could be your alarm is on the blink - mine went nuts and I had to get it ripped out, it wouldn't disarm no matter what.
I now have a nice Clifford with proximity sensors I can't be arsed to turn off
I have a Clifford (fitted to the car when I got it) and it's the worst bloody alarm I've ever had - always going off and sounds like a kids machine gun. I've spoken to a couple if installers about sorting it out and they've both said that the only dealings they ever have with Cliffords is ripping them out and replacing them - which I'm thinking about doing.
my cab was doing the same and its parked in the hospital residence car park (about 200 people woken up). The battery was fine and in the end i had the horn disconnected from the alarm. The way i see it the alarm sound does not deter someone who wants to damage the car anyway. The fact that i will hunt them down should!
There was quite a big article on this in The Sunday Times a year ago. Apparantly the new way that cunning thieves are stealing expensive cars is keep setting the car alarm off in the night, and eventually a few nights later the owner has disconnected/not set the alarm as they are embarrassed/annoyed by it going off. Then the thief is free to use his usual methods of nicking it (be it driving it away or loading it onto a lorry).
not just the middle of the night. I once heard it going off whilst i was doing a clinc (200metres away). Its just its less embarassing during the day! Also lives behind car park gates. The noise of a toway truck is as effective at waking people up as an alarm.

The guy who installed mine said that all older (as in pre 2000) alarms are a bit tempermental, and most alarms these days are much better (lovely 911 BTW). I can't say my Clifford (concept 650) has been anything but excellent - never got a false alarm yet (I hope).

That's good news then - they've got the product right I guess they now need to sort the PR and get some confidence back from all those people that junked them.
