Has anyone here had a vasectomy?

Wife wants me to get snipped. We have two kids and she doesn’t want to go back on the pill which is fair enough. Using condoms with your wife is not great but it’s where I’m at so need to sort it really. I am somewhat worried as I’ve heard of people having issues afterwards like painful balls due to scarring, infections etc.
There must be some on here that have been done so can you tell me whether it is a good idea or not?

I was converted to unleaded about 20 years ago. Was a little sore and swollen for 2 weeks after but it's no big deal for a lifetime of knowing you're a jaffa. As long as you're definitely definitely definitely not going to want any more kids with current lady, or any new relationship that you may move on to, then I say go for it.
Nothing to it really.
Just get some practise in beforehand by having a bounce around on a Spacehopper with just one handle.
Seriously, I had no problems or issues.
I opted for just a local anaesthetic, and was back at work the following day.
There was some discomfort when the shaved area started to grow back.
It was like having sandpaper down my pants.

Yep, about 15 years ago.
Actual op was ok, just an odd tugging sensation in the gut. I stared fixated at the ceiling while a couple of nurses tried to put me at ease by waffling on about did I watch the football last night etc etc.
Didn't feel any pain before or after, only issue was the so called dissolving stiches still hadn't dissolved nearly a week later, so had to go back to get them removed. There is something veryexciting offputting about going into a portacabin and a Scarlet Johnannson lookeylikey nurse orders you to drop em and get on the couch while brandfishing a pair of tweezers. 
She then got stuck into my ballbag with them...all over in 10 seconds whereupon I pulled my trousers back up and fled like a startled horse.
Another mate had it done, had no ill effects whtasoever and was playing Sunday league football barely 48 hours later.
Another was not so lucky, was in absolute agony afterwards for a couple of days and barely moved off the sofa expect to get some more ice to put in his improvised jock strap

Had mine done privately rather than using the NHS conveyor belt system as advised by my Doctor.
No issues whatsoever, the only thing I felt was a slight tug each side when the tubes were pulled to be snipped and that was it. No bruising or swelling afterwards and no pain.
The worst bit was laying there fully exposed while being attended to by a lovely looking, young female nursing assistant.
I would advise you to shave yourself before you go, it will save a lot of embarrassment

They cut a piece out of mine and stitched. The reason they cut a piece out was to make sure the tubes were not long enough to join together again, which apparently does occasionally happen.
My Doctor said the NHS didn't do this when I had mine done, they opted for the quick snip and tie jobby.

had mine done several years ago, drove myself there and home,
went out to the car club that night, didnt sit down,
later took next doors vistor to the next town to catch a train,
got home 3 am somewhat uncomfortable.
mate of mine had 3 snips first one re connected, second one caused massive swelling
third one unplumbed everything.
