Hi,

my dads here and wants to watch the footy and has sky go on his ipad so all above board.

seems you cant stream from the ipad to the tv and a quick google confirms unless anyone knows different?

have installed sky go on my macbook and connected via an hdmi and that works apart from the sound?

anyone know if its possible to get the sound to work? sony tv comes up on the mac's sound setting but if you select it nothing happens?

thanks

My LG TV in the UK has become too old - about 2008, so no longer plays sound through HDMI, via Win 10. Works just fine via Miracast.

I think that it is, in-part, to cut down illegal streaming, but the catchall approach stuffs everyone with older kit. I only use it for a couple of months each year, so I am not rushing out to replace it with the latest technology to watch the same old rubbish.

You defiantly can’t stream SkyGo from a Mobile device to a TV - Sky don’t allow it. Can’t help with the sound issues I’m afraid.

@PeteMurphy, re the sound, its a common Mac thing and I found sometimes turning the Mac off then ov again can help as can re connecting up the hdmi cable. There are a couple fo places to check that the TV speaker is the selected output (in Mac preferences and Sky preferences etc) but it can be done. I have this issue when lining up the TV to watch the sport in the garden in the summer

Buy a cheap Xbox One, install Sky on it, login.... Sky Sports on your TV.

Used it yesterday.

The only awkward bit I’ve found is that while you can have 2 devices associated with your account, you can only make one device change a month. Have to be on the ball when sharing the account. But the OP could, if his dad has only set up on his ipad, use the other connection for a fixed setup at the OPs house, no more huddling round a tiny screen smile
