Broken Torque Wrench
Discussion
I've got several torque wrenches and my largest and most expensive appears to have stopped working.
It's a 3/4 Sealey AK628.

Specifically, whatever torque you set - it never clicks anymore.
It's always been stored wound down to 0.
Is there any serviceable parts that I could fix? I only paid £30 for it but having looked online new 400nm torque wrenches are nearly £100

My last job in UK, was with a firm in nuclear engineering, we had a certified lab to calabrate our tools, including torque wrenches, they would repair and calabrate wrenches for employees, so yes it can be done, would it be economic if you had to pay an hourly rate, I doubt it, last one of mine that broke I just binned, my time is worth more to me than identifying some one who could repair it.

I have the exact same torque wrench with the exact same issue, you can pull the socket end apart and within it you will find a cog that has either dislodged, worn out or just broken, You should be able to find a spare on eBay. its a 10p part. It's a 3/4 Sealey AK628.

Thanks - any pointers on the part you mean?I found this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQdOgW0Vl5Y - that covers dissasembly.
From what I've seen so far, the grease looks rather bad - I will try re-greasing and reassembling first. Unfortunately my tools live in a damp shed so they all have a nice rust coating...
I assume I'll need to re-calibrate after re-assembly?
