Battery Condition Testers
Discussion
I intend to purchase a Battery Condition Tester, and with so much choice I'm unsure which route to take. Already have a MultiMeter and a 'Drop Test' device, but feel that a comprehensive tester would be a good tool. State of charge, starter test, alternator test, bad cell, ripple and cold cranking analysis functions are required. I've carried out research of whats on the market, but nothing jumps out at me as being a good all-rounder at a fair & reasonable price, purchasable in the UK. Any recommendations, please.
Use one of these for battery testing https://www.gsparkplug.com/durite-battery-tester-h...
The starter circuit can be load tested with the above by connecting it directly to starter body and starter supply, same for the alternator circuit but need to be careful not to wind the load up above the rating of the supply cable
Multimeter is all that's needed for any other testing

Is there any true tester that will give a definitive answer ?
Let's face it....if there is any doubt about a batteries performance, just replace it. Because more than likely it needs replaced.
Only one other thing is that there are some good chargers out there that can offer some extended life to older batteries and may be worth buying and trying.
But don't think they actually test as such ?
eg this would be at the expensive end.

multimeter is very basic though
For more detail, Pico is probably a good option. At least with it you'd be able to test all things, as installed in the vehicle, which can be helpful as the issue may not be the battery itself.
