Expedia - WTF!!!

I've just tried booking flight tickets through Expedia and whilst attempting to complete the booking process and purchase the tickets, the flight prices have changed 3 times!!!

What's this all about then! Is it normal? I haven't actually completed the process yet, but i'm starting to feel raped and ripped off.

The price difference is over £100.00!! :mad:

I've heard this before, the more times you visit the site, the price creeps up on each subsequent return visit.

Why not delete cookies, reconnect to the net (you may geta different IP address) and have another go.

Alternatively, try from a freind's PC.

It oughtn't to do this from a moral standpoint, and thus its a good time to look elsewhere.
Try www.moneysavingexpert.com, as they have a ryanair checker
Also, try traveljungle.com, as they got me a couple of good seats for a flight to Milan last year.

I have booked flights and hotels via them and they are always brill. never had the sort of problem you have encountered.

I have used Expedia before and not had those kind of problems... v odd.

Travelocity are similar, and just as good - maybe try them?

Use expedia to get an idea of schedules accross several airlines and then go direct the the airline to book the flights themselves. Expedia don't get any better prices on scheduled flights than going direct.

This is relatively standard e-commerce demand pricing. If you're looking at the same product a number of times it will increase in price gradually as it looks more and more popular.

AFAIK if you use a different machine, it won't matter as the interest in that product has already been registered.

Some holiday companies do this all the time, especially internet-only operations!

I had to keep looking at the increased price as it wouldn't let me book at the original price!

Forgot to add this is nothing to do with Expedia hiking up the prices based on number of hits on a flight. Expedia just looks at the same booking that all the travel agents are looking at. The price increases just mean the seats you were looking at before have sold out so it gives you the next cheapest seats available.

When they book a hotel , their system automatically sends a fax to that hotel . Any confirmation expedia gives you is bo110x. If that hotels fax machine is out of paper or something , they have no idea you are going to stay . That's what they told me anyway..

That sounds a bit iffy.
I've just booked a hotel and Expedia say that payment is taken at the time of booking.

They refunded the money on to my card. Luckily hotel had aroom anyway , and it was cheaper.

Expedia are shit.....

We booked rooms in Le Mans for the race next weekend back in January thru Expedia, in April Expedia emailled to say our bookings were cancelled, turned out the hotel did not even know who Expedia were!
