New to the BB fold, after finally seeing the light and getting my CBT booked up. I've followed GP racing, hillclimb and other events like Isle of man for the last 10 years and having grown up with my old man and uncle etc riding bikes thought it was finally my time at 27 to get stuck in.
Had enough of watching other people have all the fun!

Emailed Black Country Motorcycle training (Tipton) on Xmas eve, and on the 27th was time for my CBT.

Friendly bunch, very relaxed and after a bit of wobbling around on their training pad, felt like it all clicked as soon as we got out on the road.

Full lessons start in Jan,
Only issue so far is the hours and hours "lost" on ebay looking for the perfect first bike.

Congrats and welcome!

Keep us updated as you go along, there's also a stupid question thread in case you need help with something and don't want the general mob to rip on you... biggrin

Congrats!

I’ve been wanting to do it for years but I’ve always put everything in to my cars. Finally at 31 I deceived I had to do it!

I passed a few months back now, done well over 2000 miles since and I’ve used the car 3 times!!

Good luck for the DAS.

Did mine with Black Country just over 2 years ago. The bikes and facilities are old and tired but the training is excellent. They also have use of the mod 1 test pad due to thier high pass rates.

Good luck

Had another lesson in a 125 last saturday which got the slow manoeuvre nailed then jumped up onto a Hornet for my first "big bike" lesson yesterday.

First time wearing new boots and new leathers trousers (all the gear no idea) as well so was a bit apprehensive.

Felt right at home on the 600. Not had any issues with the slow speed (mod1) type riding.
Theory in a few weeks then booking up the mod 1 test with a lesson at the proper test next scheduled for next saturday.

Was grinning like a big kid when out on the road. First time feeling that sort of power between your legs is quite the eye opener. Got out onto some twisty 60mph loving life.

Main issue that has cropped up is resting at lights on my left leg where it feels more natural to use my right. Want to get this nailed as I really struggled with the hill starts.

Must have stalled the bike 5 times before I got it so that's something that needs a bit of work. Although the road was stupid steep nothing like youd have on your test I was told.

All in all feeling positive about my ability so far but need to transfer some of that slow speed ability out onto the road.

That used to frustrate me as well, left leg down foot on the brake, right leg down put it in gear, do the hokey cokey rolleyes
It's just one of those things you need to put up with while you're learning and taking your test, I always come to a rest on my right leg now I guess like the majority of people. I know the idea is you have your foot resting on the rear brake but you can do that with your hand on the front brake, including Hill starts.
Good luck with your tests, hope you get some decent weather.

2nd lesson on Saturday and felt like everything clicked nicely.

Straight out on the roads no warming up and felt great. Really enjoying the riding now.
Rode around lovely Wolverhampton for a while then headed to the MOD1 centre (the school books out the pad for practise).
Spent about 30 minutes walking on the pad with the instructor while another learner was running through his MOD1 a few days before the test.
Gave me a good idea of what was to come and felt much more comfortable with it.
Got a quick 10 minutes on the pad before we left, went straight for the "high speed" manoeuvres and managed them all first time at good speed (57KPH) so was chuffed at that.
Quietly confident about the MOD1 so that will be getting booked ASAP so long as I pass my theory this Saturday.

Road ride was much better, few little wobbles on the heavily congested roads and fluffed another hill start but in general pleased how its going.

Mod 1 on Wednesday!
Trying to remain with the view that is a fun thing to do rather than a test.
Went to the actual test pad for a run through a few weeks ago and didn't have any issues so hopefully I don't do something stupid on the day.

New Bike arrives Saturday!

Went with a 2016 Honda CBR650F.
Seemed like a good mixture of sport type bike that I was after but something with a nice upright riding position that would be good for a Sunday and commuting and touring on.
Getting it delivered on Saturday so will either be a present for passing Mod1 or a pick me up if I fail.

Well done dude.

Will be torture looking at the new bike for weeks not being able to ride it. Good luck!

I don't get the wait between the mods. Mod1 in the morning mod2 after lunch is how it should be done wink
