Have been given a Xmas pressy of a hedgehog box with an in built camera

No instructions!!

The cameras has a scart connector and that is it

What i would really like to do is insteas of extn cables running through the house, is it possible to set up a wi fi router just inside the side passage that would be able to send pics back to my tv so we could just 'tune in' as and when,

AND

If this is possible could i also hook up a nest box camera to the same router

If this is possible any suggestions of what kit to get as i would like to get thenet box at least up and running before prospective tenants start house hunting

Mr P

It is new

The camera has wiring from it ( lots!0 that terminates in two BNC plugs and a jack socket that a power unit connects into

Also supplied is a scart socket that the two BNC plugs ( yellow and white) connect in two

So can i connect the scart socket into a wi fi router that will be picked up by the wi fi on the TV

And if so can i fit another feed into it?

Has anyone on here got a set up like this ?

From your description is sounds like it's proving a video signal. So as it stands you can plug it into your TV and that's about it. I don't think you have an IP camera.

You can get senders, people used to use them for transmitting between floors in a house for example. A quick check on Amazon shows they are still available but seem to have been updated slightly. I doubt they are very weatherproof and you'll still need power.

Sounds like fun though, would be cool to watch the little critters.

I was looking at retrofitting a camera in one of my hog boxes but haven't really come up with anything ideal as yet. Let us know how you get on with yours and id be grateful for a link if it turns out well.

I would remove the camera that comes with it and fit a wireless camera.

Exactly this - what you've got sounds like an older style analogue cam with composite out I expect - the solution you're describing is more trouble than it's worth. I remember a relative getting a bird box equivalent of this years ago and I don't think they ever hooked up the camera.

This is the perfect use case for something like a Blink XT camera to replace the one it came with. Battery powered, motion detection, IR night vision, etc. I have these as security cameras - recommended.

Although I'd probably want to establish whether I had a hedgehog in residence before rigging up any cameras, you may never get any activity to watch!

I had one of those.
It is just an old analogue camera and video lead straight to the TV. It really would not be financially viable trying to transmit that wirelessly, and the quality is rubbish. What is shocking is the price some gardens centres still charge for those kind of things.
As above get yourself a wireless camera like the Blink XT2, its perfect for that situation, battery powered and easily controllable from an app (which could be shown on TV by Chromecast).
