Has anyone got any experience of Vodafone Broadband. Currently with BT, but contract is about to end. Equipment reviews suggest the VF router is pretty good and it’d be a whole £8/month cheaper. The only sticking point is that user reviews seem pretty poor regarding customer service if things go wrong

Used then for a couple of years via a business broadband contract without issue. Then moved it to a residential contract.

They fecked it up massively... to the point they are giving it to me free for a year. Lots of effort my part with their useless customer service. But in fairness they did fix it all in the end and the actual product is working fine.

It's Vodafone. It will be average at very best and probably poor a lot. If you have any problems - which is likely because Vodafone - you'll be on your own.

It's the worst telecoms provider in the UK by far, even worse than TalkTalk and Three. You get what you pay for.

2.5 yrs in excellent no issues..

As per previous..

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

No issues with Apple TV+, Netflix, Amazon, Sky on demand, F1 tv pro..etc..

The only thing to look out for is they have a two channel router, 5 and 2 (Gbz?), anyway had to prioritise and sort mine when it went live, perfect now..

Also you’ll get a further discount if you have other Vodafone services..

Not very good.

Defected to Plusnet when the contract was up a few years back - miles better & no issues with them at all.

Had it for 18 months and it was fairly painless, dropped WiFi signal now and again. With Now TV for broadband now and it's cheaper, faster and doesn't drop signal as much.

1.5 star rating on trustpilot from nearly 10,000 reviews. There'll always be one or two that slip through the net. A shockingly bad company that truly deserves to die.

We've had it for 6 months, switch over was delayed by a couple of days but otherwise it's being fine. Router seems slightly better than the Sky one we had before. Look out for cash back offers - we got £100 for switching

We had the slower speed one when we moved in in October (min guaranteed 25mb I think)
Whole process was relatively painless. The router arrived in the post, plugged it in, then waited 7 days until my activation date.
The date came and we went out shopping. There must of been a fault with the phone line and Vodafone had arranged an engineer to visit us. We arrived home and he had his head in the exchange box up the end of the street.
The fault turned out to be a poor quality socket in my house, which he replaced free of charge.

More than happy with the service we've had, and would recommend.
I'll be swapping my mobile contract over to them in April when my current contract is up.

Over two years with trouble free broadband. Their support however (for the phone line) is so bad it can be treated as non existent.

In all this time they have failed to get CLI working, and any call diverts work for a day at best.

I've had tech support in God knows which country laugh at me, ask my my make of mobile phone ???, Refuse to escalate problems, hang up on me, and promise twice to have a supervisor call me, which never happens.

It is dirt cheap because the literally is no support.

I have had it for 2-years and think it’s a fair deal.

However the support leaves an awful lot to be desired. The Friday before Christmas I was told to Factory reset the router. Kept being told to enter the password for the router by a woman who did not have a good grasp of English. We repeatedly entered the password from the base of the router and it would not accept it.

The bit she missed was that it was looking for the admin password which is vodafone in lower case. Her boss eventually came on and explained this. 2-hours of life wasted. But in my experience all call centres tend to be equally useless.

Both our mobiles are Vodafone and again, if you don’t need assistance, they are pretty good.

I've got two Vodafone mobile contacts which is why I looked at them (had no issues with those). I'm quite a long way from the exchange and can't get anymore than about 30mbs, but generally don't have many do it issues.
Been considering Plusnet as well, so may have a look at them

I have two numbers on a VF contract and I'm on Plusnet - great support when you need it and rock solid service...

Looking at any kind of broadband review is maddening because half the time it's moans about WiFi coverage (no-one will make a home router / AP that works in every position in every house), much of the rest will be line and/or Openreach issues - which when they happen are largely out of the ISP's hands and would be the same with any other ISP. Very little is actually to do with how the ISP handles issues, billing, etc - so I think there's not a lot in it between most of them.

About the one thing that can be useful for comparison is Ofcom complaints data - https://www.ofcom.org.uk/research-and-data/multi-s... - latest set has Vodafone top for complaints at 30 per 100,000 but the likes of Plusnet and TalkTalk aren't far behind.

VF broadband will be subject to the same openreach network limitations as any other FTTC ISP. We’ve had it for 4 years and when there have been network issues (corroded copper connections in the street causing noise on the on phone line and internet drop outs) they were resolved very promptly by Openreach BUT only ever attempt to use online chat to communicate with VF customer service as all other means are a waste of time.

Used them for a year or so.

Had issues and had to go via CEO Team to get released from my contract.

With Plusnet now, much better

Have a look at Plusnet. At times it might take a bit longer to get through, but they talk English ( albeit at times with a UK accent). That's the few times in a couple of years I've had to call them. it's a division of BT, just as Talkmobile is a division of Vodafone.

Had them for 7 months, product is faultless but had a hell of a time getting my DSL username and password so I could use my own router.

Had to direct them on the phone to their own website to let them know how to do it as they kept giving me the router username and password rolleyes

Anyway if you are happy with their router out the box, and need no support you will be fine.

I do wireless troubleshooting on an enterprise level and I am still astounded that customers think the WiFi is the ISP problem... So many environment and interference factors and home routers are cheap st in the first place.
