When I used to be a regular gym goer, it would piss me off no end to go to the gym in the New Year and it would be rammed with people I'd never seen before, I'd struggle to get on any of the machines or get to use the weights and by mid Feb, they wouldn't be seen again.
Like the local on Christmas Day. A pub is not just for Christmas.I went to the beach yesterday to walk the dogs. Normally at this time of year, there is a maximum of ten cars there. The car park was full (I think it holds 175 cars) and while there were a few with their dogs, it seemed to mainly be the 'crazy' ones who wanted to show the world of social media that they went for a New Years Day surf (there was very little surf, about knee height) despite them not being surfers (hire boards and wetsuits, I don't think anyone in the water had surfed before). Plenty of GoPros and phones recording it.
We have them on the sea front & they are an amusing sight.
In skin-tight & rarely flattering Lycra, although I'm sure they think they look wonderful, with earnest expressions they run up & down with wires in their ears & supping from a water bottle.
The funniest are the young matchstick mums with their long hair flapping about or a pig-tail swinging from side to side in unison as they run, whilst with one hand steering a child in a trolley/buggy thing.
Most look as if they are from new smart executive estates rather than council sink estates.
