20k SUV.....

Looking to get a new SUV in March, budget 20k, could stretch up to 25k for the 'right' one....
No older than four years old.
I've got a Touerag at the moment and had a Mercedes ML350 before that, both great cars.
The Touerag was a lease deal, 16k for three years and im struggling to see any decent leases at the moment.

Any recommendations, im at a total loss at the moment.

I have what seems like the same criteria for the wife, the options in the larger SUV segment at that price and 3-4 years old appear to be Touareg, with X5/ runout ML350 pushing towards 25k.

2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee owner here... (don't laugh!)

Love it to bits... you'll get a nice 2016/17 car, maybe even a Summit at that price.

Huge amount of car for the money, nicely specced and a really nice drive.

Indeed the Jeep is the other option, I did look at it (on AT anyway) but ruled out as it doesn’t get the best write ups. Would you recommend over the alternatives?

Lexus RX450h? Petrol hybrid. I'm looking around the same price point for something over the next couple of months I haven't driven either yet but you have to go with what you like more irrespective of whether it's a diesel or whatever. Whilst the lexus makes more sense I think I'd like the touareg more.

Other option for me is the BMW X3 3.0d which is a smaller category but gets good write-ups.

A bit older than you are looking at but I have just bought a Lexus Rx450h 2013 with 65k miles for £17k from a main dealer so full warrantee, new front tyres, service and Mot.

Very pleased with it. Very smooth with plenty of space and power. CVT and hybrid system takes a week or 2 to get used to but very easy to drive, reasonable economy and not diesel. Took a while to find a decent one as quite a few were a bit tatty. Also travelled from Hampshire to Leicester to get this and found that cars up north were £2k or more cheaper than where I live.

For the money it's awesome. Overland and Summit spec have the full air suspension which makes it super comfy. The 3.0 diesel means it isn't a slouch either. No harm in having a drive of one and deciding for yourself.
