Is it my setup or does iplayer have a very poor Bitrate? Plain backdrops look like Amiga graphics. They're piss poor. Drak materials was driving me mad as it was almost unwatchable.

People and more complex images look fine and it's clearly an HD image. Some amazon stuff also looks the same.

Rakuten, Netflix and BBC 4k look fine.

It's not Internet speed as I get 65mbs at the TV (mid range 65" Samsung.)

Tried googling but it doesn't appear to be a common issue.

Anyone else have this?

Mine has been ok and I don't have particularly good internet speeds, but if it's any help you might be better off downloading the episodes and playing them from there. There's an iplayer download for this.

Thanks. Will check whether I can download via the TV or xbox or ps4 apps.

Ah, sorry I didn't consider you would be watching using a TV app or similar. Hopefully you can get it sorted.

They're not big files. Perhaps 2gb per hour on average for stuff that is HD. That doesn't translate to a high bitrate. Maybe 4-5000 kbps on average and 128 kbps audio.

A blu ray rip will be 30,000 ish. Most other services will be considerably higher.

Not sure if what download is the same as what plays online though.

I am struggling with it too, and have been for a while. Most other things I stream are fine, but rarely can I now get the iplayer any good.
