Quick question. I have a new 2020 Vantage. I will be traveling sometimes for three weeks. Is it necessary for me to plug in the battery conditioner every time I go away? It seems kind of risky give the chances of power surges and other anomalies. This isn’t something I’ve ever confronted with other brands. For the record the cars seems really well put together and as my first trip away is next week I’m leery of leaving the car alone in the garage just plugged into the wall. Thoughts? Must I do this, what are the risks, if any. Or with such a new car are the risks negligible?

I cant believe a modern car battery cannot last 3 weeks without a charge. Id just leave it. The battery in my current Vantage is at least 7 years old and easily lasts 5-6 weeks without use over winter.

I would put it on a c-tek charger. It will not hurt the car and maintain the battery at an optium level so everything on the car works as it should.
I use a ctek on all my cars whenever i,m not using them.

Risk? My V12V is plugged in all year, no problems what so ever.

As CB says - definitely put on CTEK or similar if more than say 1 week without being driven.
So much better than potential downside.
I’ve never heard of damage occurring if one plugged in either.
MXS 5 model from amazon plus all the connectors you might need although not sure they have the magnetic one.

I didn't drive mine for about 3 weeks. On a few occasions when I opened the door a gear selector warning message would briefly show up. I later had another warning showing a battery telling me to start the engine. Since taking a run up to the Peak Distric and back then plugging it into the conditioner recommend by Buzz a few threads down to this I've had nothing show up since.

I'm not sure if related, just my experience.

It’s not a necessity to put the battery conditioner on, but why run the risk if it’s being left for a few weeks? The previous generation AMs are notorious for having battery related issues, and it can be a real pain to resolve if the battery drains. Whether this applies to the newer cars I don’t know, but with the external magnetic connection it’s easier to hook up and it makes sense to leave it connected while it’s not being used. These things are designed for that exact purpose so I wouldn’t be worried at all about any surges etc. I always leave my V12V connected and have had no problems doing that. Perhaps the later cars may not need as much tlc though?
