Virgin Tuscan Owner
Discussion
Hello everyone,
Well after much reading the various posts on here, I've sold my Cobra replica and bought the only better looking car on the road..the Mk.1 Tuscan (Dark Green, X Reg 2000 - 30000miles, no engine problems to date, just had a £1800 service at Mole Valley...fingers crossed).
I know I've flown in the face of the advice to pay more and get a later car, but I've decided to put the rest of the cash in a high interest account in case the engine decides to go one day. Quite frankly it seemed that the later cars have just as many, if different niggles and problems...any dark green (i'm sure there's a technical name) was the colour I wanted.
I'm picking it up tonight - what are the unobvious things that i should know and watch out for? Thanks very much in advance.
Big Al.

Welcome Al (we already have a big Al) I think you are wise to put money aside, but it sounds like you have bought a well sorted car. Not all suffered with the engine. Most of what you need to watch out for has been discussed on here. Was it a private purchase or through a dealer? If the latter did you get a warranty? The biggest thing to look out for is the stupid grin on your face each time you drive it. Dont worry too much if it sounds very rattly, they all sound like a box of spanners on start up.
Good luck

Oh, well i won't get into the argument over who's the biggest Al...he was here first. It was a private sale, so no warranty, but I'm considering the Henley Heritage option or the High Interest account one that I'm employing now! It was reading your Tuscan 2 journal that convinced me I had nothing to lose with an earlier car Di !
Somebody call?
Congratulations on your purchase, fine choice if I may say so. Niggles you'll get lots, hopefully not all at once. Sort them out as and when they arrive.
Advice, Don't hammer it until the oil is up to temp, and VERY easy in the wet until you get the hang of it. Other than that safe driving and keep it shiny side up! OH

Welcome Al, I bought my Tuscan after three
years in an A.K. Cobra replica.Despite a host
of expensive problems I dont regret buying it
as they are so much fun to drive and as they
have a decent roof you will get much more use
out of it than the Cobra(wish I could have kept Cobra as well)
All the best, Col

Congrats on the purchase. I've had mine 2 years now and still grin like an idiot whenever I open it up.
The only thing I would say is that if the shocks are standard TVR kit then invest in some Nitrons and a good alignment. It makes a hell of a difference to the driving experience.
HERE HERE.
Your welcome.
Cheers, Al - as an ex-Tuscan virgin (2 months and counting), I hope you enjoy your new toy as much as I have. I've owned some nice cars (and have a 2002 M3 convertible as my day to day car) but the Tuscan is the only car I've ever driven around in just for the hell of it without caring where I end up. Just back from a roof-off sunny evening spin up to Aylesbury and back home to Herts, and I'm now sitting here with a huge grin on my face ! Even the fiancee came for the ride, and she's not known for her interest in cars. Enjoy !!
weldone on the purchase ive had mine 2 years now and the grin hasnt stopped yet, ive been working in the states the last 2.5 months and have another 2 weeks to go till i get home just had someone service it so its ready for the day i get back, the grin is already starting, advice all the usual let it warm up blaa blaa and dont listen to the doommongers theres quite a few.
