Car finance - No license card to prove i Have license

Hi,

Just need advice really about any way around the predicament i currently have at the moment.
I'm purchasing a car via finance part exchange at dealership. The finance application is made, and accepted by the company. Now, when it came to signing, the agreement, the finance company - blackhorse are saying they want to see my drivers license.

Now i'd informed the dealer that at the moment i do not have my license as i had to surrender it to get points added on ( 3 points). But do still have a license, and did ask them if this will be an issue, when purchasing. They at the time said its fine, that i could use my passport. Dealer had asked for my passport, which i sent. It came back saying i need to show my license. As i don't have it, i offered to give my provisional and try with that. Finance won't accept it. The dealer suggested that i provide my license certificate, which i did. They have no came back that the finance actually wants to see my license card due to the value of the car ( which i obviously still do not have as the police still has it, since October 2019).

I contacted the dealer and informed them all i have is that FPN card thing you're given by the police, which am to show until my license has returned. And asked them if it'll suffice ( still waiting for response).

So am wondering, is there actually any way i can go around this. Because i don't know why the finance actually cares whether or not i have a license ( which i do), so find it odd they're wanting to see it for that purpose.

I've contacted the DVLA to see the state of my license, and confirm that its still actually in place. They said that there's no actual update, they can't see any endorsements. And asked them for advice, and they've said they can fax over a certificate off entitlement to the finance company as proof.

If anyone could offer any advice it would be much appreciated.

If you have your licence number & national insurance number they can do online check.

Which i have and can provide, but they haven't asked for that yet. I've just sent them the FPN card thing from the police, which has all the details of whats happening with my license.

But i don't think that'll work. As my license is being changed over from England license card to NI drivers license. When it was seized they said they'd need to change it to NI drivers license as i now live here. I'm not entirely sure if my license number will remain the same once the change has taken place.

Must have a Full UK licence in force for most UK lenders, which they will want a copy of for Anti Fraud purposes.
Ask dealer to do a DVLA licence check with licence number and N.I. number and see if financier will accept that, together with passport, as photo ID.

Sounds a bit strange not having your license since Oct 2019 just to have points added. When I got points 2 years ago I did'nt have to give my license to anybody.

Something's gone wrong there - it should come back to you in a few days.

Have you got the details of the Officer who took it?

I didn't think they actually took the licence these days (my incident was years ago, and it was a paper licence, so they have to write on it).

You can get a White Range Rover sport on finance with no fixed address or employment record to show you can make the payments.

Then when you default the finance company will be to scared to take the car off you.

Call up and say you’ve lose your licence and you should get a new card in a few days.

DVLA did check my record. They said what they can do for the finance company is either have them confirm of my Full UK Drivers license status over the phone only directly to the finance company. Or send them a certificate of entitlement. I've said this to the dealer to ask the finance company, just waiting for a response.

I'd imagine so. But when i asked them how long it will take they said it could be up to 3 months...As they had to add the points and change my license over from England to NI. Even so, its at the 3 months mark now anyway, so find it strange that i still haven't received it.

I have the details of the officer on the FPN card, and sent it to the dealer to forward to the finance company.

All that for 3 points? I'd find another finance company/dealer/car.

With regard to the licence with a c thing. I wonder how long it will be before we harmonise with the US? It makes sense, as most people see license a whole lot more (every time we accept a new program etc).

Well as I have said above, i do get the point, but it's a bit irrelevant. My point is this thread isn't about the grammatical correct way, of spelling licence. As such it shouldn't divert into that topic, especially if the point being made had no direct relation to the question being asked, except the way one word was spelt.

Anyway, I'd very much appreciate it if this thread remains on topic.

If I have missed it, then apologies, but aiui the rozzers have your licence, what do they say about the status and why it has taken so long to sort things?
