I went to see him in Southampton last month. Not normally my thing but I was interested nonetheless. I really enjoyed it and whilst I don’t feel the need to explore poetry now, clearly he is an intelligent man and can articulate himself very well.
If you are thinking of going you should definitely go.

Okay, I think I'll book it. I last saw him 30-35 yrs ago, I've moved on not sure he has. Wife mentioned it, didn't think it'd be her thing at all. If you are thinking of going you should definitely go.
I remember him being interviewed on North West Tonight a few years, and the interview went along the lines of:
"What's it like being back in your home town of Salford? You're still a mancunian at heart"
"Not really, I've lived in Essex for the last 20 odd years".
"Erm, well, erm, at least you still have the accent".
"Yeah I know, I've spent bloody thousands on elecution lessons and I still can't get rid of it".
"Erm, err, yes, I see, ah,erm " (help!)
