43k Miles High For a Corsa VXR?

Been looking at some VXR’s and found a clubsport edition with 43k miles, just wondering if thats high mileage for a VXR as i know they’re not the most reliable cars.

Not high mileage at all, but make sure it's been maintained well enough. Trashing a car is fine, especially something like this, so long as it has been maintained properly with good quality oils etc.

When we sold ours at 2yrs old with a glorious 4200 miles on it there was a lot of interest due to the low mileage. I wouldn’t be concerned as such by 40k as long as the interior doesn’t rattle or squeak.

I'm on my second Corsa VXR, well one SRI (same engine) and now the latest VXR.

Firstly 43k isn't anything to worry about. True the engines can suffer thermal shock and take out piston 4, not helped by cheap remaps, but its not nearly as common as some people would have you believe...they're pretty solid TBH.

5 mins doing a compression test will tell you the state of the engine but generally if it runs well it should be fine.

More of a worry should be the M32 gearbox as they tend to suffer bearing failure. They did improve the gearboxes for the clubsports and later but still there are easy to spot symptoms which will help steer you away from a costly repair. Changing to decent oil also helps greatly.

I would suggest joining the VXROnline forum for more info, and googling "M32 problems" (e.g. WG Motorworks has a good article on the gearbox problems and what to look out for).

I got 42k out of my SRI gearbox before i had to take the end cover off and replace the 6th gear bearing and that was hard miles. My Corsa E is on 29k now and still strong.

The anti VX crew will slate Corsa VXRs but they're good cars for the money, no better or worse than the equivalent Fiesta Mk7 TBH.

We sorted our M32 box on the Alfa for about 300ish. Makes a huge difference and much cheaper than it used to be to sort

Called out on what exactly? The simple post of mine that was put as a joke? I and whoever else it was was told we sound like old men simply for having some sort of a joke about corsa's sat in McDonald's car parks, stereotypical or not and whether you find it funny or not (nature of how we all are) is basically your opinion and nothing more.

How is it any different to the same old comment from someone saying "we are all grumpy old men" just because we see things in a different way to others?
