Where to buy a Basenji?

Hello all,

I've searched the normal places but can't find anywhere listing Basenji dogs for sale.

I'm looking for a dog under 12 months old, hopefully near Somerset, but can't even find any for sale in the UK (there are a few old adverts that still come up on searches).

Does anyone have any experience of finding this breed?

Tough gig I would imagine. Rare enough breed at the best of times.

Kennel club and breed specific club along with websites are the onvious choices.

I suspect you wont find exactly what you want unless you are very very patient or look abroad as well.

The Kennel Club only seem to have one 'Assured Breeder' registered, located in Kent.

Great dogs, I have a friend whose wife has a couple.

I'm sorry I can't advise where to get one, but he said that the last one came from Scandinavia (maybe Finland, tbh I wasn't paying that much attention when he told me).
