Castrol Edge 0/30 - is it no longer BMW LL04 compliant?
Discussion
data sheet dated june 2019 omits LL04
https://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/FusionPDS.nsf/F...
whereas its now specified in the 5/30M

ok so just spoke to Castrol... basically BMW changed their approval rating in early 2019 but the formulation of the oil itself has not changed
if its been good enough for 15 years and 96k miles i am loathe to change it but its LL04 replacement is technically a 'better' oil so question is do i move to the 5/30 or not
as discussed with Castrol chap, if in a country where it was consistently -20 on start-up, perhaps would pause to think about moving up to a higher viscosity but here in good 'ol blighty, less likely a material difference
im gonna have a ponder and get in touch with alpina!
