I am doing a job at the end of the month in Spain. Client pays us in euros.

Whats the thoughts regarding the exchange rate? I normally just add on 2-3% for exchange rate variations and bank charges.

But the problem is I guess the currency could move quite a bit? I don't want to over charge them but also I don't want to end up taking a bath if things move 10%.

Should I just include a clause for extra charge for exchange rate or something else?

confused

Sounds like you basically want them to pay in GBP, i.e. they take FOREX risk.

If it's important to you, ask them to, and they could hedge if we're talking significant money.

Alternatively, just do what you've always done.

You're more likely to benefit by being paid in €.

I don’t think that 31st January 2020 is a very significant date, in terms of trade. Basically we leave, but everything stays the same. 31st December is the big worry.

It fell fro €1:20 to €1:17 when Boris announced that he would not follow EU standards, but it is back to €1:18, so well within your usual allowance.

At the moment there are other bigger worries on the world stage - $US is likely to be the winner there,

Currency will always ebb and flow.

If you've not already done so, open a Euro bank account and receive payments into this. That way, you can pick when to transfer to your normal sterling accounts when the rate is favourable (unless you need the cash as soon as its paid).

Looking at the rate being below €1:10 today, I was wondering if this deal worked out OK for you?

Brexit looks like small ripples in the water when compared to what is happening with Covid-19 right now.
