Hi All - anyone tried or running one of these? Looking for opinions.

Looking to change the GS (2005) at some point in the next 12 months - is the Honda a good replacement for touring?

I tried one before I bought a GS a few years back.

Lovely creamy engine.

Weighs as much as a small moon.

Too tall and too heavy for me.

I'm still not sure why I bought a GS. It's gone now though.

At 6 foot 3, I find the GS a little small so may be OK then. Will check it out.

V4 engine appeals. Plus they are good value smile

I had a 2013 one for about a year. As usual, did loads of miles touring and really enjoyed it. Mine was obviously a manual one. The engine is an absolute peach. Nothing negative to say about it. Great bike.

Very heavy but quite good if a bit bland for me.
Try the new crf1100 Africa twin first
much more lithe and responsive and better equipped too

They are amazing value for what they are and what they cost originally!

I would have no qualms about buying one of I was on the hunt for that kind of thing.

I ran one from new up to 32k miles.

When I first got it it came on Bridgestone tyres and I thought there was something wrong with the ABS as it kept cutting in. The tyres were just ste. Continental Trail Attacks they really suit the bike.

Rock solid reliability. Unlike any other bike I've owned. Can certainly pick up it's skirts and boogie when required and that engine is an absolute peach. Would highly recommend one to any powerfully built chap as the only downside is the weight.

The trouble is it's high weight unlike the GS. So once moving it's absolutely fine, it's the paddling around in and out of the garage that's the scary bit. I've never dropped any other bike in my life but the crossdresser I dropped 3 times. Luckily it's so bloody solid there was never any damage but still had to enlist someone to get it back up.

I did 650 mile days on mine with no issue so an excellent long distance tourer and once we got to the Alps had no problem dispatching the usual GS brigade in the twisty bits.

A great bike and an absolute bargain but only for the tall and strong.
