Finally, the comfort seats are hurting my back and spoiling my enjoyment of the car.

I've been offered some 2nd hand genuine Recaros, how much do people think I should be paying for them? Anyone sold/bought a set recently?

about £4k I would say for the real 996 GT3 seats.

The ones on eBay which are 4k have been there for about 3 years........

My thinking on going for genuine seats is that Comfort cars with buckets do seem to attract a premium come resale time, but not sure if it's a 4k premium!

I have Pole Positions in my other 911, which I had considered for the GT3, but to be honest, you're £2k+ in at least for a set of those and I'm not sure I'd ever see that again if I chose to sell.

I'd stick Pole Positions in your GT3, great seats and suit the ethos of the car.

I'd hold on to the Comfort seats and come resale pop them back in and offer the Recaro seats to the buyer or pop then on ebay with the GT3 seat mounts. Bound to sell I'd of thought.

OP, if your budget doesn’t allow, there’s alternatives such as a pair of Cobra Nogaros which are UK manufactured - I fitted a pair last year to my 996 C4 (pic below of a similar pair with harnesses). My seats were trimmed to match the existing leather with alcantara centres similar to the ones below.

I’m slightly broad in the shoulders as well as tall & the Nogaros offer good support with the benefit they can be supplied with varying thickness of base cushion if required as well having adjustable seat runners to allow different drivers to use the car (if required).

It’s bigger than 4K to get a car with buckets.
Back when I was looking/ buying comforts were lemons and had to be £10k cheaper.

to be honest the original seats aren't that great. I've got a set in my 996 RS. If it were my car I'd go either pole positions or some other recaro seat. The motorsport show is on at the NEC this weekend and I bet recaro will have a stand giving you the change to try a few seats out. You can then have them trimmed to match the car.

I've priced up a set of new PP in leather - before the sliders, you're looking at £2.5k.

I guess my issue is the "alien" seats are correct for the car, they are largely the same seat as a PP - save the big heads - and they do have a positive impact on the resale value of the car if/when I want to trade it on later, which I don't think PPs will. I'm not sure the gap is 10k though as R suggests - that's crazy talk - but there is a clear £2500-3000 between 996.2 Comforts and Comforts with buckets on PH at the moment.

Having had a look at sold listings on ebay, a Nomex set sold recently for an offer below £3200 so I think a nice leather set with sliders have got to be worth around the £3000 mark. FB 996GT3 group suggests even less.

I do have some Pasha (!) PPs in my Carrera 3.2 but they just don't look right in the GT3!

By the way we are exhibiting at Autosport this weekend on stand 2180 come along and say hi we have a couple of race cars for sale and some arrive and drive seats if you fancy some endurance racing!

996 OE Recaros are the best non folding buckets Porsche has made imo. I know people with 997RS that switched their Recaros out for 996 jobs !!

For info. The originals are based on a Pole Position

What is the difference between the 996GT3 buckets and Recaro PP?

For what it's worth I rather liked the 996GT3 buckets; had one in my 993tt and found it very comfortable even over a 15 hour trip. A bit of rolled-up bubble wrap tucked under the centre cushion for additional lumbar support and it was fab.

Each to their own I suppose! I much prefer the seats in my CGT and 997 4.0 RS. I think the 996 RS seats are a tad too up right.

Pole Position are very good, I have them in my 964, however the 996 buckets are equally as good.

The Audi TT QS had Recaro PP seats which are typically £1k to 1.5k pair second hand ( excluding specific mounts)

I didn't use the factory mount but a set of these - https://www.bkauto.com/Side_Mounts_for_Porsche_GT3... with some Sparco sliders. May have tilted the seat back a bit more - too long ago to recall.

OE Buckets bought. Had to do a little refurb work on the factory rails and a leather treat/condition, but already soooo much better.
