I come from a world of Triumph 650 tracks bikes and 675s

Purchased my first R1, collect saturday

(Lava Red 04)

Managed to get a couple of bargains being January

ASV black levers to replace the Chinese gold ones fitted
Akrapovic Carbon slip-on to replace the Bewolf polished slip Ons

Just looking what other mods and advice as I prefer to follow a well trodden route regards mods and generally piston heads doesn’t have loads of chavs adding on stty knock off bolt on crap.

Tyres
Track always used Pirelli SC1/SC2’s and on the road Triumph used Michelin Power Pilots, these suit R1 as I have heard Metzlers and Dunlops etc
Advice would be epic

I need to service the bike so will do chain and sprockets
Do you suggest stay 530 or move away and then would you go -1 +2 ?

Tuning wise I assume PC3?

Quickshifter, I have used HM superlite which was ok to be fair, what do you suggest for R1?

Rear shock I have read change to 07-08 shock, I assume worth doing for road and leave the ohlins alone?

Steering damper, I assume ok as standard, worth an upgrade?

Any other suggestions?

Assume I am heading the right direction before I get into Carbon ??

Decat Y pipe to replace the cat.

-2 +1 on the sprockets

SBS pads

PC3 works, I have a nice map somewhere for decat and cans

Tyres, S22's probably as they seem to be the best £/performance at the minute

I was advised not to fit a QS as they have a habit of fking the gearbox, your bike your choice.

There's loads you can do to them, how far you go is up to you, if you are regularly using it on track I'd do suspension first before anything else.

John BN ran one of these as a track bike for years so will hopefully chip in and add some sage advice, I only rode mine on the roads.

Translogic Q/$. Get forks serviced people overlook changing fork oil. Wouldn't go to radical with sprockets unless you like wheelies. Maybe -1 on front. Ohlins are worth the money.

Not intrested in wheelies, so maybe just -1 then

For the road I'd go -1 on the front sprocket and stick with the standard 130 chain.

Power Commander with a custom map to smooth out lower/mid range.

Dr cat

Suspension. Like the above poster has mentioned get the fork oil changed and maybe springs for your weight from K Tech. Usually around £100.

Rear shock. What ever you want. Bear in mind that the rear shock will not be at it's best after 16 years, same goes for an 07 shock

Set the sag. They don't turn that well. I found that both ends are really soft from the factory.

I ran all sorts of tyres on mine but found that they turn better with the likes of super Korea's with their steeper front profile. (That's just my opinion)

Lava Red really suits that model.

Enjoy.

North or South super Korea's? I prefer South for the road myself.
