Couldn’t think of a better title

I’m voting Apple.

When usb was an established format their iPods had a 30 pin connector instead requiring purchase of new adaptors
The original iPod was FireWire compatible as well as usb compatible. A subsequent software update removed FireWire compatibility and meant even the FireWire chargers didn’t work. Straight to landfill.
I remember one iPod update that couldn’t be loaded because my Mac mini at the time could not run the very latest OS X and I had to revert to an ancient windows XP laptop to run the update.
Iphoto/Photos on OS X is not backwards compatible. In a home network of 4 macs only the most up to date Mac could view the photo gallery as it could no longer be accessed by the machines running the previous version of OS X.
Have you tried to extract photos from iphoto/photos and keep any of the structure ?
iTunes used to delete songs from iPods/hdd
New iPods/phones brought a new lightning adaptor
After a year or so Apple then activated a chip in the lightning cable to stop devices working with non-authorised cables. Still causes problems to this day with even genuine cables not always being recognised.
Later iPhones dropped the headphone socket requiring an adaptor for the lightning socket
iTunes went through a phase of deleting non-Apple music from hdd (2015/2016)
iPads/iPhones still don’t have sd card slots so users are forced to pay far more for storage space
New MacBooks don’t have any sockets apart from thunderbolt 3 which requires a whole host of adaptors to be purchased and carried around
The Apple mirroring system no longer works with devices that worked in a previous iOS

Thankfully I have never owned an Apple product and have no intention of ever doing so.

I’d vote fir Sky
Add a service? Easy, go to menu & hit a button
Cancel a service? You need to call us. Spend 20 mins in a queue, then get the hard sell, before undoing what takes 10 secs to add..

BT for me. They know damn well who are the competition and up their prices when there is no choice, now there is a choice keep getting offers tying me in for another two years. Irony is VM are the competition. Going to have to play them off against each other.

OK with Apple here, except the Photos fault in Catalina but that is sommit else.

Technically not a company, but surely HMRC in its various guises?

I struggle to think of a more organisation whose employees are more undertrained, inconsistent, arrogant and ignorant.

EDIT - Sorry, I too have just noted the tech forum location, so I'll modify my comments to HMRC's online "offerings" - utterly useless in terms of support and unasked-for security features (which can only realistically be used insecurely i.e. if the details are written down and kept because there is no attempt to make things memorable).

BT get my vote, it took them 3 months to reconnect my phone line and get my broadband up and running. I've never seen such incompetence and disorganisation all the way through their structure, I don't even want to think about it.

The connection was finally achieved exactly 12 months ago but they had to re-attend last Thursday because the broadband and phone had gone off. It's been repaired without me needing to be in, but the concerning thing is that the broadband is only downloading at 1-2 megabits, whereas when it was first installed I was pulling nearly 70 megabits...

Hard wired or wifi? I find mine just works, 2ghz wifi often conflict with other houses and I use hard wired all the time and to be fair it stays60+ all the time, it is the customer help and snake oil sales attempts as per thread title is my beef.

BT are horrendous (and my other half works for them)

Sky are pretty good with customer service in my experience although it is really annoying how easy it is to spend money on upgrading but how hard it is to remove a service. If they were really customer focussed they would just have an add/remove facility on your account but then maybe that's how they make that extra money.

Apple are Apple. They have frustrated over the years for many reasons but their products are the nicest to use so I put up with certain things. It's a lot better now than the days of having to use iTunes on the PC. I had some pretty horrid experiences of music being deleted on my phone without me instigating at the same time my PC had died so I couldn't copy them back.

My vote goes to British Gas and Charles Church (Persimmon). I moved into a new build home in 2015 and the builder had used some of our energy so when we signed up to another supplier, they said they would pick up the tab up until our move date. I wish I got that in writing. 4 years later I received a very threatening legal letter chasing up non payment. I had no idea what they were on about until I investigated. At no stage did British Gas every get in touch to tell me they hadn't been paid and I didn't know until the letter.

As for Persimmon. I'd be on all week so I won't go into detail but after 4 and a half years, our original snag list is now resolved. The process of chasing, walking into their head office (not far from me) going to the snag clinics, dealing with customer services and logging tickets the lot. The whole thing was a nightmare and less tenacious people would have just given up which is what they want. Horrible company to deal with.

Is that the same Sky customer service that put me on hold for an hour and a half? Had an absolute nightmare issue with them for 3 months that was fixed within 2 days after we left and moved to BT.

I did say in my experience to be fair. I've been with them for 15 - 20 years and whenever I've contacted them or had issues, I've always been happy with the service. My biggest gripe is that I can't just log into my account and remove an option from my package.

I refuse to contact BT from past experience. My other half has worked there for 20 plus years so we get everything done via inside contacts rather than attempt to get in touch the normal way. We get free BT TV subscription with the BT sport package and free Internet. If it wasn't for the free bit, I'd be on complaining to them all the time biggrin

Another vote here for Apple, my parents bought into the hype/ecosystem as 'it just works' but whenever I visit I need to sort issues out which on a PC or Android phone would be simple yet on a Mac is convoluted (I work in IT and have unix/BSD experience).

Google have annoyed me as well recently as they have removed Xiaomi from their IoT allowed suppliers without warning so now overnight the lights don't respond anymore to voice commands.

Because there was a MASSIVE security breach on Xiaomi kit...
There's plenty of reasons to be annoyed by Google, I wouldn't say that was one of them.

I could understand if they restricted the access for just the camera's but I've got half a dozen Xiaomi lights and they haven't given any notification on the google Home hub or app, the lights have just simply vanished.
