Just been quoted £375 for annual service of my 2016 panigale at a main dealer in the midlands. its only done 1900 miles and was last serviced last year at 1800 miles which was oil/filter and brake fluids so barely got out on it last year. This seems a bit steep for just an oil and filter change. Can anyone recommend an independent approved in the midlands that may be cheaper?

Shirley there is nothing wrong with the present fluids? Unless there is a time limit item like a timing belt I would not bother changing the fluids. In one year nothing bad has happened to them so they will be like new.
People worry about selling the bike on and not having an annual stamp in the service book. Plenty of buyers will be more interested in the mileage between services.

If you check your service schedule you will see that it is based on a number of miles OR a time - whichever comes first. So yes according to the service schedule it needs a service as it was last done 12 months ago. Moral of the story is use the bloody bike wink

As cylon says, its 7500 miles or 12 months. Having previously been shafted on a trade in because of missing service history i will look to keep this up to date. Not too precious if its main dealer as long as they are recommended and approved.

I also plan to do a European trip this summer so should finally get to put some miles on ,

Seems a bit pricey, the annual service on my V4 was just under £300 last year and I've been quoted the same this year, it will probably be the last time I get it done at a main dealer as it has one more Year warranty on it.

To give some perspective, my annual service on my 2018 RSV4 in November from Blade motorcycles in Swindon was £225

And have everyone walk away from it when it comes time to sell against all the others that are out there have proper paper trails, especially as if you have an issue and expect any goodwill post end of warranty that won't happen.

Also for the OP, if your bike is in warranty and you have finance check the paperwork carefully as you may need a dealer stamp.

A pretty good course of action, use genuine parts (filters) and the OEM recommended oil (Shell?). The only issue is invalidating any warranty, and not receiving any potential software updates.

Try http://www.italiamotoltd.co.uk/ in Lincoln, depending where you are they offer collection service. A couple of Ducati owning mates use them, highly recommended and good VFM.

Cornerspeed did my 1299 Panigale and it was reasonable, year 2 service, can't recall exact price.

what does the 1299 service schedule look like? when is the big one due for valves? assuming due to frame design its a pain?

im looking to get one when the ULEZ forces me to part with my current bike..

Christ my H2 annual service for the past 3 years has been no more than £139-£199 at Bristol Kawasaki and extra last year for the price of the MOT

Shock horror, premium brand servicing more expensive than the rest .....

My Porsche used to cost more to service than my Toyota .....

Its not new is it ??????

If you want Honda running costs, buy a Honda ......

Due the valves checked every 15k miles from the manual, no time limit on it.

The job itself doesn't look too bad - fairings, seat, radiator and then the subframe loosened, then the heads can be accessed reasonably well.

Sounds about right to me for the service, you could reduce this by removing fairings etc before letting the dealer do the work. They charge around £60 per hour so I bet there's an hours labour straight there on a Pani.

Plus the oil change isn't hard, but it's a dry sump so to get the dreggs out its a job of turning the crank to pump it out.

Reputable indy or dealer servicing if you want to retain value come sale time.

Cornerspeed have been mentioned and Nelly is a good egg FWIW.

Probably £80-100 OTT, but resale is more important.

Oh, just wait till you get to the 15k service that'll probably give you a nervous breakdown then...

rofl

Wait... you've only done 100 miles last year?, on that schedule don't worry about that service till the next decade/millenium.
