Hi all.

Long version:

I have a client's email folder containing just over 100,000 emails, not doubt a good number of Gb in size. All of those emails were also forwarded to his Gmail account, so he effectively has a backup of all of them.

The mailbox is too big to move to Krystal as it stands so I want to get it down to the last few months of mails and then move it. (Krystal have a good tool for this that works well).

I've connected via Outlook, and am currently syncing. I will then delete most of the messages and sync with Krystal.

I would however like to keep a copy of all messages as a belt and braces exercise, and would like a recommendation for doing so. I've looked online and nothing leaps out as an obvious solution.

Advice much appreciated.

Short version:

How to I take a local copy of 100,000 messages in Outlook?

Can't you split them down into a number of .pst files? These are much more portable & you should be able to bring them back in & restore them into the main file if you wanted to.

Thanks to both.

I didn't find the option to backup in Outlook when I first searched but I see it now. I like the idea of splitting things up too.

Cheers

I have multiple mailboxes with well over 100,000 email in each mailbox in single PST's.
Never been an issue.
A couple are now with Office365
And a couple with an holder hosted exchange provider.

I think one mailbox is 80gb.
