since last pancake day I've been counting the days out loud to the extent I've divided my friendship group into remainers and leavers (of our whatsapp mates group).

I've decided to fly to amsterdam for 3 days over pancake day as I've heard the pancakes are nice there

does anyone have any recomendations for where to go there - savoury pancakes prefered!

For non-pancake food, try Il Pacioccone. A nice little Italian restaurant.

I have to say that you do have to do some digging to find very good food in Amsterdam IME. You can get fed no problem, of course - there’s loads of places but I mean more of the independent establishments that are very good at what they do.

Not a venue per se, most of the fish (herring) street vendors also sell Kibbeling, which is battered chunks of fish (cod) normally served with a garlic sauce, Kibbeling is one of the first things I seek out when I visit.

This is quite a bit outside central Amsterdam (really about 15 mins on the metro/tram): my favourite is T. Bootsman on Straat van Messina, Amstelveen or Volendammer vishandel, Osdorper Ban, New West Amsterdam, although the latter was talking about retiring the last time I was there.

https://pancake.nl/ up the street from Anne Frank's House, Canadian is my favourite savoury one.

Been visiting the Pancake Bakery from the past 20 years, though noticed on my latest visit the No longer do the buckets of pancake syrup and at the end of each table;

Haven't tried it yet but there's a Pancake Boat that does cruises around the harbour while you scoff your pancakes that looks like it might be fun.

Once you've had your pancakes visit In Der Wilderman or BeerTemple beer

Another non-pancake suggestion - Steak Sambal from Cafe Lutje.

Zero clue whats in the sauce. But the steak, and sauce, is bloody awedome - and there's plenty of sauce to be soaked up in the big basket of frites you need with it.
