Not sure if this should go in the Gadgets or the House forum, but I'm looking to fit a couple of wireless PIR sensors at the top and bottom of the drive to switch on some external lighting. Something like this: https://www.trust.com/en/product/71091-wireless-mo...

It seems quite simple - 2 PIRs and a controlled switch to supply power to a couple of lamps - but has anyone got any experience of these, or a better suggestion of an easy way to set up wireless lighting switches?

I was looking at doing exactly the same recently and basically consigned myself into believing that the only way to do it was the Philips Hue outdoor PIR, a bridge and some smart bulbs. Which puts you well into the £100+ territory.

I was going to wait until Hive launch an outdoor PIR as I already have a hive heating system sonwouldnt need to buy another hub.

At present I'm making do with bog standard outside lights with PIR sensors in, but it's not perfect.

I don't think so. I've got a long-ish drive from the road up to the house. I want a PIR at the top to switch on three lights spaced along the drive when I walk out of the house, and a PIR at the bottom to switch on the lights when I drive back in. The cabling for the lights is already in place but they are controlled by a switch in the house. The PIRs would be positioned 10-15ft away from the lamps at either end.

Hue would perfect for what you want to do, not cheap though, but no cables to run.

GJD will last ten times longer than consumer kit, they do a wireless pir with switch box. My system has been in since 2008 only 1 pir from 8 has failed.
