£10k car allowance and high mileage, best options?

Hello!

First time posting on here, thinking this would be the place for some decent advice!

My Husband is changing jobs, for the last 20 years we have both had company cars, which are fully maintained, serviced etc, and so we are both out of the loop when it comes to anything else.
The new company do not offer company cars, he would have a £10k per year car allowance instead.

He does a lot of miles - 20k+ spends 2-4 hours a day driving, and is tall with back problems. So needs a decent size & comfortable car.
He has typically had Audi A6/Jag XF type cars, and would ideally want to stay in that range.

I've been having a google and it seems if he were to lease a car, they do not like high mileage drivers?
So would it be better to go to a dealership and buy a car on a PCP type plan? Or similar, I have no idea the different names of the finance options...
And then be able to change every 2/3 years?
We've had a few quotes, which are coming back at over £600 a month! Without running and servicing costs, this seems very high?

He doesn't want to own the car, but is also very conscious of the additional costs of tax, service, tyres, brakes etc - which is not something that either of us have had to shell out for in a very long time.

Or, would it be better to buy a car on normal finance that's 1 year-18 month old, with low mileage, so that it has done a lot of the depreciation?

But we really don't have a clue, so any advice would be amazing, thank you!

I'd look at leasing a Skoda Superb or Volvo S90 if it was me.

But it all comes down to how much of that £10k a year you want to spend on a car. Decide that first, divide it by 12, then look at lease deals in your budget., but factor in the maintenance costs and include insurance and fuel cost estimates when doing your calculations. See what's within your budget then by googling for car leasing companies and seeing what they've got to offer.

Take this approach, and you'll find the options field magically thins out and it'll be easier to decide.

BMW 5 series on a 20,000 mile a year deal, 2 year term so it shouldn’t throw up much in the way of major bills before it goes back. Averages out at £507 per month or £6094 a year.

If getting in & out is an issue maybe look at an SUV for you budget you can get one of these & it's still ULEZ compliant as well as having another years Manufacturer's warranty:
