Drive The Deal close to Used prices?

Hi All,
I'm looking out for an Ibiza FR/FR sport 80/95 and I was set on finding a year old one to save a bit of cash however, I came across Drive the Deal whose pricing seems to be pretty decent.
If I compare DTD to the used up to 1 year old Ibizas within 80 miles of my post code the far far majority are only ~£800 within the price or more expensive! Now of course the dealers prices are up for negotiation but I never thought I'd be in a position where new and used pricing is comparable.
Is this just a great offer from DTD at the moment or what's going on?

When we bought wife's VW Tiguan 4yrs ago we needed a car quickly so looked at nearly new - it soon became apparent you had to go back 12 months before they were the same price as discounted new, and the new ones had a mild facelift, new engine and sat nav!
The difference was helped by £2750 deposit contribution to the PCP which meant we got over £6K off, then we paid the finance off a few days after getting the car. If you're going to use the dealer finance, then new is often half the rate of used.
Salesman told me some people just come in have their minds set on nearly-new and don't look at anything else. Also leadtimes can mess things up on new, but in our case the dealer looked for available new cars and it was at the dealership 8 days later, although they did say it could take 4-6 weeks.
I guess the other thing that happens is salesmen are often dedicated to new or used - so if you're with the used salesman he's not going to point out that you might be better off going for new.
We used CarWow - DtD wouldn't talk to us unless we agreed to wait the factory leadtime. got near enough the same price, and got the car from a local dealer.

Same story here with a new fiesta. Cheaper to buy a new one with a years free insurance and dealer discount than it was to get a 12 month old one. Not to mention one year more warranty, no need to MOT for an extra year and one less owner on the registered keeper list when you come to sell it
Similar to sheepshanks above,
when looking for a Vw tiguan for my wife,
and due to the fact that petrol versions were much less common with nothing available in the spec we wanted on the second hand market I decided to look at buying new,
I soon realised that a new car from Dtd was actually working out cheaper than the same car upto a year old which made looking at buying used seem pointless.
I've used them several times now with no issues.
