2002 Fabia mystery fuel/external temp fault
Discussion
Symptoms: The external temperature sensor reports all sorts of strange temperatures below zero all the time. Intermittently while driving, the car beeps, the fuel level reads zero, a temperature warning light starts flashing. It all starts working correctly again after the ignition is turned off and on again.
Checks: VCDS says a fault with the feed from the fuel level sender or external temperature sensor. I guess they're on the same circuit?
The cooling system is working great.
I've tried: Replacing the external temperature sensor twice and cleaned up the contacts and checked the visible wiring. Worked for a short while I think.
I've inspected the fuel sensor wiring under the rear seat and checked the contacts. I'm considering pulling the whole assembly out to inspect.
I'm bemused, but there's a few threads on here that sound really similar. No solutions I could see though. Anyone know the answer?
