Which one?
Where is it going for breaking?

There are a couple of spray equipped 727s based at Lasham. Is it one of those?

Something got lost in the translation. It's a BA 777-200 ( short code B772 ) off to Wales for decommisioning.

laugh

I was going to say, there hasn't been a commercial operated 727 into LHR for years, possibly decades....wouldn't pass noise abatement regs now.

That makes more sense. The middle digit of a Boeing makes all the difference.

Really........eek

I would have thought even a hush-kit equipped 727 would be now outside current noise limits?

It seems Heathrow has a voluntary target of no Chapter 3 aircraft from 2020. So it would appear that a hush-kitted 727 would no longer be allowed at LHR.

I see it was one year ago today, that the final commercial flight of a 727 took place, in Iran.

The noise limits don't preclude an operation. An AN-224 could operate, however if ( when ) it breaks the noise limits it will receive a fine for doing so. And
the poster above it correct, we do have a voluntary target to phase out Ch3.

Thanks. I still think of 777s as relatively new planes!!!!

Heard it come over my place gliding into St Athan this morning, followed by another not long after.

More and more of these big jets are heading to St Athan these days, quite sad watching them come straight over the top, quite low , wheels down, and knowing its there final journey. Like watching big old tuskers seeking out the elephants graveyard.

Much nicer times was listening to the Conways of the VC10s coming in for their majors and running out to the back garden to take a look.

My old boss had 2 727s, lovely things they were, with new 1& 3 engines from a MD83 (I think) and winglets. both are still flying as VIP transport for various African nations, so chance of them coming back to the UK.

I recall a flight in a 727 in 1968, Orlando to Washington with National. I wondered if the pilot flying had honed his skills doing deck landings, the landing was so hard that many of the passengers screamed and adopted the brace position.

Some nice 727 action here. The narrator sounds like one of the TV meerkats but apart from that, it's quite good.
