Hi all,

Caveat: I am nowhere near as IT savvy as many of you guys are!

I've just bought the LG UltraGear 34GK950F and noticed in device manager that it's using the windows generic monitor driver.

I'd expected, perhaps naively, that it would have loaded a proprietary driver on connection, it hasn't obviously!

I have checked the LG support site for this specific monitor and there is no mention of any windows drivers.

Are there any other/better sources such as nvidia, for an appropriate driver or is the generic driver sufficient (the monitor appears to be working fine)?

I'm asking in case I could be getting better performance than I realise.

You would not usually install a driver for a monitor. You install the driver for your graphics card

Thanks for the reply Pravus.

Hmmm... yes, I suppose, except that last year I had to go to the Dell website to download the driver for a monitor I was using then.

It was a 2 monitor config (2 Dells) at the time and saw that the older monitor was using the Dell provided driver yet the "less older" one was using the windows generic driver.

Maybe it just doesn't really matter that much for my needs.

I will check the GPU side of things tonight though.

not a device driver exactly, but there’s probably a Windows colour profile provided by the vendor of the monitor which basically, when installed and associated with your screen, tells Windows all about the colour space the screen is capable of displaying.

This is almost certainly worth doing if you have a wide gamut display you wish to take advantage of and/or are into colour accuracy, photo editing and so on.

Hi Boss(!), thanks.

I'll check if that or something along those lines is on the support page, I feel like there were other downloadable files even if there were no driver files.

You can indeed get monitor drivers. But dont bother bothering with them.

Cheers Robbie, I was looking for the monitor driver.

Lo and behold there they are... at the bottom.

Even more cheers Snuffy.

As it all seems to be working fine (I haven't looked at overclocking it. Yet.) I shan't bother then.
