I've had a dull, small, confined headache for nearly 2 weeks now.

On top of that, my already high sensitivity to bright light has got a bit worse, and painkillers wont shift it. My prescription for eyes is up to date and fine, and once or twice over the last few weeks I've had a word or phrase I cant speak/get out. I've had this before with migraines as I suffer from very serious ones, so it might all be that.

NHS website says I should seek medical advice, and tbh, im really fkin worried about it.

I've made an appt with my GP but the first avaliable slot they have is 2 weeks on thursday. Would a walk in centre do anything for me? I dont want to be a time waster and I'll wait the two weeks if I need to.

If you're worried get seen straight away.

If it's worrying you then what have you to lose, yes go to the walk in, worst case is they won't be able to help, but they might.

Could try 111 also? I'd also express your concerns to the GP (or at least the receptionist), most have some cancellations or duty doctor appointments available daily if needs be.

Over 2 weeks to see your GP? What a complete joke. Yes go to the walk in centre (be prepared to wait hours!).

Drink coffee? Play computer games?
Any change in your life?

My Mrs bought me a PS4 For Christmas. 30 minutes daily had me having a headache everyday for a week. It wasn’t until I decided I’d cut out the PlayStation the headache went away.

TBF ours takes a while for routine stuff. But they usually have a few same day emergency appointments + telephone appointments which are useful.

I've found my local walk-in to be brilliant for potential emergency situations, they will give you an immediate hospital referral if necessary.

Good luck - keep us posted.

Same with my surgery. I only need to wait longer than a day if I want to see a particular doctor, I can turn up on the day for a 'sit & wait' appointment with any GP.

Probably something like a cluster headache.

But if you're 50+ and have high blood pressure.....?

Sure you appreciate, it's quite difficult to give specific advice over the tinter web with limited info.

Go and see someone. They should do some quick checks to make sure it's not one of the more serious causes of headache. I've always been of the opinion that I'd rather someone waste my time with nothing, than not seek help with something serious.

Thankfully our GP/ambulance/hospital has the same opinion.

Good on you Dr Mike.

I've rung 111 before now - what they can do is get you an appointment with an extended hours GP within an hour or two, and they are mostly working out of A&E departments.

Yes definitely go. MrsC had something odd earlier which we believe was a "thunderclap" headache, but we went through the 111 online diagnosis and it asked about symptoms like you had, and where those were positive the overriding advice was to seek medical assistance straight away. Try it - its something like 111.nhs.uk I think.

Yes , you will at very least be seen by nurses who will check basics such As blood pressure and for any serious signs

My partner went recently after a bit of a funny turn , they diagnosed migraines and prescribed some new medication that really helped . Like you a local drs appt was 2 weeks
