Run of the mill vans - ever be a classic?

Was looking at this earlier, will it ever get classic status:

Would be a shame if someone "barry'd" it up with a c20let or something. There is a guy by me with a boggo E plate Maestro van - it's spotless.

Totally flying a kite at that price but someone with an unhealthy obsession with Astravans and a million quid in the bank (probably a very small Venn diagram) might be tempted.
Presumably they are hoping that GM come sniffing round it for their historic fleet, if they have such a thing.

I'd never want one, but the thing is commercial vehicles tend to get harder use than cars and replaced when they start having issues.
So not very many survive, and in view of that demand tends to exceed supply which is what drives prices!

As above. Workhorses used and thrown away in the day, and today for that matter. Just look around at the price of a Mini pickup today, but I advise you to sit down before you do.

This is my van. It's certainly not worth £20k or even the price of a decent GTi. It hasn't got the desirability as say that mini pickup. If I come to sell, it'll be difficult to sell and I'll never see the money I've put into it. Although its surprising the amount of people who tell me they had one as a 1st car when they where 17 or 18

IMO that ^^^ or a Mini van / pick up / P100 etc are desirable, an Astra van just isn't (unless it has a 2.0 Turbo transplant)In the 60s Morris J types were worth nothing, they were completely outclassed by Transits, through the 70s, 80s, 90s there was a little interest in them.
Now they are stupid money - mostly because ice cream and food van makes want them ( and Citroen H vans). They used to be a cheap way into owning a classic but not any more.
Not that I think an Astra van will ever go that way, but it takes a long time for vans to reach classic status.

At the time, it seemed pretty quick...more so than my Mum’s Mk3 Cavalier with the same engine...but it was a pool car. 82 bhp I seem to recall
