Brands and companies great at what they do.

Lots of companies and brands these days are just a bit naff at what they do, one example is Joseph Joseph, Which on the face of it, make great kitchen gadgets but after spending a bit of time with them, they are indeed a bit crap. Like their folding chopping board, great idea but after a while it stays slightly folded and a pain to cut on, or the dishwashing rack that flips down to save space, but doesn’t have any clips to hold it up so it falls over if you touch it the wrong way
Spurred on by this, it got me thinking, what brands and companies just get what they do so right?
Greggs is the first one that comes to mind, it doesn’t pretend or try to be anything that it’s not, it evolves with the times and serves what is quite good take away food at a good price without trying to be poncy, good coffee without having to resort to artisan milks etc. No wonder it’s so popular, cheap, some healthy but tasty items and a great rewards scheme
Another is marks and Spencer’s, everything in there from the food to the men’s clothes. Utterly great quality, never too expensive and the clothes in the men’s section especially are always great, great fit, well made, never expensive and last so long, and not overpriced, I bought chinos in there recently and they are already holding up much better than the designer pair they are replacing at 3x the price. Same with their food, never had anything from there that I’ve thought was bad, and yet it’s not over priced.
It’s great to celebrate companies that get it just right, what other ones are there?

M&S may have been good 20 years ago? Now it’s cheaply made expensive rubbish.
In contrast...Primark is now surprisingly good. They follow the fashion trends that people want to actually wear (unlike M&S) and it’s good enough quality for the price. I write this wearing my Primark jeans and hoodie.
ETA oh and my Primark shoes which are really comfy.

I saw 30,000 GP appointments where missed in September - December, now if those had a £20 holding deposit I bet the number would be significantly less.

You’re supposed to out forward brands you like.
Sky...their customer service is superb. If you have an issue, the staff always go out of their way to help.
Another vote for Greggs and McDonalds. You might not like their food, but if you do, it's consistent and good value.
Casio. Great watches at some silly prices. Perfectly possible to by a Casio watch for under a tenner that'll last for years and continue to be very accurate.

I agree with you about Triumph making an excellent product but John Bloor didn't turn a basket case of a company around, he purchased the commercial rights to the old company and started from ground zero, even redesigning the 'Triumph' logo!Turn7 said:
